What's on your Monday Menu, RNYers?

Hello to everyone! Happy Memorial Day to you! I am both sad and grateful for the sacrifices made by so many who have served.

JB, fingers crossed for your interview! Any school would be lucky to have you!

QOTD: I'm the first of the first generation of my family to be born in the USA. Nobody in my family was in the service here.

Last night I had a bonfire down at the bottom of my yard, next to the lake. I'll have another one with guests on Saturday night, providing it doesn't rain.

My weight has been stationary for a week and a half, and I am wondering if I am eating too much - I am having right around 650 calories per day, but I am having cheese a few times a day, which may be affecting things. I will cut back. I did that at an earlier point and was my loss accelerate, then slacked and started having more cheese again. I'll see what happens! I have been walking about an hour most days, up and down hills or on the beach, which is fairly rugged. My stamina is definitely up, which is great, but it hasn't seemed to make much of a difference on the scale ( nor did I expect it to).

I just found out there will be a 3-day herbal conference held here on this island at the end of June. It is distinctly a regional event - presenters are all PNW herbalists. I only know one of them, having met him about 30 years ago (my God how time flies!) at a similar conference on the East coast. Anyway I'll go, at least for a day. It should be a good time, and I may actually end up vending there - I have sent an inquiry, so we'll see.

First: tea, great big mugs of it!

B: eggs

L: tuna

D: turkey meatballs

S: I don't know, perhaps some Greek yogurt.

Enjoy your day!

I can't remember exactly how long post-op you are, but as time goes on the weight doesn't drop as fast and there are "stalls". I found that as I approached my goal that I would slow/stop losing for a few days to a few weeks and then start again with a sudden drop. Yes, examine and be honest about what you are eating. Make sure that you are driving 100+oz of fluids a day. As Grim would say, be a machine! And the scales will move again. In the meantime enjoy being more healthy!

Hi Janet,

I am almost 11.5 months post-op. I really am very determined and tracking every morsel. Considering dropping my intake back down to 600 calories per day.

I did overeat one day a week ago - too much of the food I always eat, nothing off plan, but too many calories. (That was the second time I ate more than I had allowed myself since my surgery - the first time was months ago, when I also ate too much meat). I was "rewarded" with a THREE pound gain the next morning, of which I still have a pound to jettison! But I always get on the scale every morning to confront reality - never again will I pretend that if I don't know what that number is, it doesn't exist!

Anyway, I am keeping steady, protein 60-70, carbs under 20, calories at or under 650. I upped my calories from 600 or under because I was starting to experience some hunger, and because it was hard to alway**** 60 grams of protein. I'm taking in over 100 ounces of liquids almost always, never less than 95.

I still have 50 pounds of more to lose...I think I will be losing for the rest of 2018.

you should be losing weight at 650 kcal - you may just be in a stall. I kept losing weight well into year 2, but it really slowed down after my first year. I kept thinking I was done - and then, suddenly my weight would drop again.

Oh I am still losing overall, I am down 8 lbs from 4 weeks ago, but it would be more had I not eaten too much ham last week! I'm so glad to read that you continued losing weight well into year 2, as I'm nowhere near done yet!

yep - I lost about 50 lbs during year two - but it was slow going. I probably would have lost more had I not decided I'd lost enough and put the brakes on it. I've gained 10-12 lbs since then. I'm still at a normal BMI, but in retrospect, I wish I would have let myself keep losing another 5-10 lbs to offset the bounce back. I thought I'd be one of the few who wouldn't have it. Nope!

Thanks for relaying your experience. I really want to weigh no more than about 50 pounds less than i do now, and I will do my best to go lower if for nothing else than to give myself a buffer against regain. I probably could weigh 60 pounds less and go lower than that s a buffer. I guess I'll make that call when I get there! I pulled my calories down to 625 yesterday and will keep them there or lower. I also had a headache for two days that Tylenol did not eliminate, but thankfully it has departed! I miss Excedrin for Migraines, that stuff was miraculous!
