What's on your Monday Menu, RNYers?
Good morning all... Happy Memorial Day. Quiet day today just getting ready for the week and doing some work work. Last night was a late night at the races but we had so much fun I really enjoy being around my people.
QOTD: My great grandfather died while serving in Korea but it was not on the front lines. From what I understand he was saving a group of school children whose school was being bombed. From the stories I have been told only two children did not make it out and passed with him. My Grandfather served as well... My dad always wanted to join but he is color blind and the only color he can see is orange so they told him thanks but no thanks..
Food for the day:
B: yogurt
L: pulled pork
D: steak
Hope everyone has a great day...
Happy Memorial Day! We went swimming yesterday and even though I applied generous amounts of sunscreen, I'm still bright red today. I'm about to head to the gym but then I plan on staying indoors and working on some things and applying generous amounts of aloe!
qotd: I have family in every branch of the military, and my best friend from high school served in Afghanistan for 6 years after graduation. He ended up staying in Fayetteville, NC and I miss him terribly. We don't talk much because his wife doesn't believe men and women can be just friends, but that's a whole other story :P
brealfast: coffee with Premier
lunch: apple bourbon pulled pork I thawed from the freezer
dinner: Florentine chicken burger from Costco, maybe a small salad
30 mins on elliptical, weights (leg day!)
extra water today--feeling extra dehydrated because of the sunburn, even though I got 80 oz yesterday...

Oh my gosh - I forgot to wish you well on your interview, JB!! Hope it all goes well. It's weird it's on Memorial Day, but whatever!
I forgot that my FIL was also in the service (army) - however, I never knew him. He died at age 34, when DH was just a child. He was drafted during the Vietnam war (DH is 10 years younger than me), but he had a PhD in chemistry, so they sent him to work in a chemical weapons factory here in the US, rather than sending him into combat. He was designing/developing chemical weapons, I'm guessing. He died a few years later of a really rare cancer. The oncologist thought it was most likely due to some chemical he was working with at the chemical weapons factory. Sad.
Good morning,
Im taking my friend on a road trip an hour away to see her mom that has Alzheimer's and was put in a nursing home a month ago. She hasn't seen her since moving there. Then we have support group tonight.
Qotd only person I know served is my friend I'm spending time with today. She was in the navy for 8 years. I forgot my uncle rick was in the army during Vietnam war. He almost lost his life.
B ham and cheese omelette and string cheese
L chicken tenders
D tbd
Have a good day
Qotd: My great grandfather fought in WWII. My great great aunt was an army nurse at the same time (I am editing to add that I have her Singer Featherweight sewing machine she brought with her overseas). My uncle served in the navy during the Persian Gulf war. Now my brother is in the coast guard. That is just my family, my husband also has retired military service on his side.
I celebrated the long weekend already, so today will be working in my sewing room, doing laundry, and baking a cake for a friends birthday tomorrow. Nothing I can eat, but I hope everyone else will like it.
Accountability: Yesterday was very good. Got my calories back up to about 650 and protein and water were right on.
BF: 1/3 serving cream of wheat, 1 egg
MS: cottage cheese, 3" mashed banana
L: 2oz canned chicken, 1t miracle whip
AS: 2oz refried beans, 1/2 oz Cabot extra low fat cheddar
D: 2oz canned pulled pork, 1T bbq sauce, 2oz sweet potato, 1 laughing cow wedge
A premier protein pudding at some point
About 650 calories, 72g protein
So you're saying that your sewing machine served loyally in the military?

Wishing the folks in the US a peaceful and happy Memorial Day. I've missed the thread for a few days because my son broke his hand and surgery for me is today!
My accountability is pretty darn good as I don't want to screw up the surgery... Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all shakes with lots of water, decaf coffee and tea!
I will probably pop back on when I am not blotto from the drugs!
Have fun everyone!
