Happy Memorial Day to everyone in the US! It's a long weekend so I don't expect to see too many posts today... I hope lots of people are out enjoying the unofficial start of summer :)
I had a great weekend! We hosted a big party yesterday for my BFF's birthday. It was a lot of work to prep for but a lot of fun, too. I wish today could be a down day for relaxing and recovering, but instead it will be busier than ever! First, I have a job interview at 11am for a principal position, yay. Then I am going to pack a gym bag and Grim and I are going head over to my mom's house to rip up all of the carpeting in her house, as a first step to installing her new hardwood floors!
QOTD: Since this is Memorial Day... Did you or any of your family ever serve in the military? I have 3 cousins who are brilliant West Point grads and my Grandfather served in WWII. My dad was a conscientious objector to Vietnam and went to Africa to serve in Peace Corps, instead. I am currently in the middle of a big genealogy project (I love having time off!) and I am finding records dating back to service of my family members in The French & Indian War!!!
I am not going to bother posting a menu today because I just don't know... My interview is actually at a Starbucks, so I can plan on having an Flat White made with Almond Milk (YUM!) but the rest of the day would just be a wild guess as to what mom will have for us.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day!
Morning folks!! Wishing you success on your new texture today JB!!
Yesterday we had such a great visit with my brother. The weather SUCKED- but we still grilled outside. It was cold- but an NSV happened, I was able to run into a store and buy a cheap sweatshirt on clearance. My son likes it and will keep it for himself. Double NSV bang for my buck :-) My brother is currently awaiting hip replacement surgery he has a condition called avascular necrosis. He needs to lose weight before they'll operate and has done well so far- lost 60 and has only 15 more to go. I was proud to hear him talk about all the changes he's made to his lifestyle- not just 'diet'. He's still drinking sugary drinks, I tried talking him down from that- but we all get there in our own pace.
Qotd: nope, Immediate family member of mine have never served. My FIL did. And my brothers step son had just returned home Friday completing his duty for the USMC. I think because my family is from the islands miliarty service is somewhat of a foreign concept.
I'm debating doing a Memorial Day- Independence Day run streak. At least 1 mile every day. Trying to figure when I'd fit it in in my usual no-workout days. (I'm thinking @ Sunset) It's just a mile- 10 minutes-- I should be able to. My bigger worry is I'll push myself to do more. I have a cyst on ankle that grows with activity- so I really need to be disciplined about this.

m1: egg, ham
m2: maybe a left over burger from yesterday- sans bun

Ooh, I will do the mile a day streak with you! I have mostly been doing it but I have allowed myself to take days of here and there. It's a good goal, and since I have time off, I don't really have an excuse not to. I only wish my mile took 10 minutes, lol.
Good morning :)
It is supposed to be very hot here today so I will probably just try to stay inside as much as possible -- 32****approx 95°f) plus humidity. It's not a holiday here as we had ours last weekend, so DH will be at work. I might try organizing our freezer. I have been working on operation clean-out so we can order another side of beef in the fall, but I've been terrible about buying frozen things when I see them on sale.
QOTD: no one in my immediate family has served in any wars. My great-grandfather was a firefighter so I believe he was kept here as an essential service. My grandfather was too young for WWII.
Post-op three years, two months. Also, I can't believe May is almost over... Time is flying.
Breakfast - protein shake
Snack - homemade muffin and yogurt

I'm gong to a bbq at my MIL's house. She makes the best deviled eggs and there will be meat.
My father served the Korean war in Paris. The military definitely wanted me when I graduated from nursing school but at the time they did not accept homosexuals.
My son wants to be in the coast guard and jump out of helicopters and rescue people.
I'll be eating eggs, faux cauliflower "potato" salad, grilled meat, and yogurt.
I keep meaning to make deviled eggs but then I forget. Maybe I'll do some this week!

Happy Monday to all whether or not it is a holiday for you!
JB, all the best for your interview! Cheering for you and hoping that the best situation works out!
It's rainy and cooler here this morning and then cloudy this afternoon. If it was a nice day, I'd like to go to a park for a picnic or just to sit under a tree, but it probably won't happen. Not sure what I will do but I migh****ch more Netflix with my feet up.
Yesterday I took my first drive since my PS approved it. We went to Michaels Arts & Crafts and wandered around. Picked up some paper plates and napkins with cute flamingos hoping that I can host a picnic for some friends. Because I haven't been able to clean up the yard like I'd like, I'll do it in a park rather than in the back yard, but I do like to have parties! DW also bought some beads and made herself a new necklace for work. It's really cute. On the way home we stopped at Arby's and I got a half pound roast beef sandwich, no fries. I tossed the bun and will eat off it for a couple of meals...yum! We were out for about an hour and a half and I was a bit more achy afterward so we stretched out in bed and watched movies for the rest of the day. We ordered from the new TGIF delivery because I wanted a hamburger for dinner. Ended up eating too many fried green beans and only a few bites of burger...boo hiss!
QOTD: I grew up in a staunchly pacificist family so not alot of military service for a few generations. My step brother did run off to the Army for a few months but was discharged early because he couldn't keep his weight down. In my genealogical digging, I did find lots of service in the War of 1812, Civil War (both sides), and even the Revolutionary War.
Menu:
I've had my coffee but now DW wants to go out for breakfast. I'm going to refocus on dense protein and otherwise eat the rest of my RB and burger!
Exercise: not much
