What's on your Saturday menu RNYers?
Happy Saturday.... I actually slept in today to like 6:30 and I can't believe it. Today I'm running errands and chores around the house. Tonight we are going to the movies at the request of hubby! His chiropractor suggest the movie Book Club so when he suggest a night out who am I to say no?
QOTD: We have had lawn sales and sometimes I will go to them but I'm not a big fan especially when people show up early or when people try to haggle. However, I did meet a really good friend of mine and her daughter became my daughters concert buddy when she started coming to our lawn sales and buying all of Emily's left over clothes.
Food for the day:
B: Eggs w/ cheese and coffee until I burst
L: cheeseburger
D: no clue we are going out and hubby picks the restaurant tonight...
Have a great day friends.
I really liked Book Club. My mother originally wanted to go with me but I was afraid I'd be too embarrassed to have her there, but the sexual innuendos were actually pretty mild. I think it would have been fine to have her there with me! (plus I'm thinking she wouldn't have gotten all the jokes, either!)
Good morning weekenders! It is already over 80 and 80% humidity and I'm not allowed to walk more than a few blocks so this will be an indoors weekend. I'm not really in pain, a little achy, and am bored out of my mind and restless. Oh well, I keep reminding myself that the other option of feeling like crap isn't good either If I was able to I would go for a long hike, maybe in the Shenandoah National Park, and of course I would have to be at the pool! The problem is that the outdoor pool will be freezing cold for a while longer, well and I can't be in the water or in the sun for at least 6 more weeks.
In good news, the doctor has released me to drive short distances. I don't have anywhere to go but it is a great feeling to be more independent again. Maybe we'll go out to eat so I can have a crab cake!
I guess we could go to a movie, but I haven't been to a theater for years. We always stream things. What is worth the ticket price right now?
QOTD: I am huge into thrifting and bartering, but not so much yard sales. Many years ago I had a few and they are entirely too much work for the return that I got from things. Liz, I like your idea of a free sale. I might do that but we live off a main street and we wouldn't get much traffic. I buy things off Swap regularly and usually like what I get. Since WLS I've been a regular buyer and donator at several local Value Villages. When I changed sizes every couple of weeks, I was there all the time to get clothes that fit. While you can find good things at yard sales and flea markets, it is always more hit or miss. I do love craft and art festivals though and some local ones include more yard sale stalls.
Menu:
Breakfast: I had ham and 1 blueberry waffle
Snack: Cappuccino protein shake, cashews
Lunch: If we go out, I'll have a crab cake, if we're in, I'll have smoked salmon and baby carrots
Snack: Iced coffee with Premier protein shake, turkey breast
Dinner: shrimp!
Exercise: wiggling my toes and waggling my tongue! And a little bit of walking

I put a listing on Craigslist for the free sale and that is all that was needed (we were on a dead-end street off the usual path as well). We didn't even do signs.

Its already 80 here in Indiana and headed hotter. Lily and I walked a mile early and will do more later this evening as the temps cool down. We'll get at least 5 miles total in. Yesterday we hit 6.89 miles total and over 12,000 steps. QOTD like yard sales but never have had one. Post op 5 years 9 months and weight at 118.4 today. Accountability good with no extra bites taken. Heres food plan B 1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter L 4 oz deli turkey and cheese 3 baby carrots for crunch D 4 oz salmon with feta cheese and spinach few bites of pineapple if not full S 5 oz cottage cheese with 1 T no sugar added jam. Have a great day full of smart choices everyone!
Mornin' All!
we're at a coffee shop killing time before we have to go to the airport to pick up my mother-in-law. She'll be here all week looking at apartments (she plans to move here next summer from the east coast). She and DH will probably be driving around most of the next two or three days looking at areas of the city that she might want to focus on, since a lot of apt complex offices probably won't be open again until Tuesday.
I had a lumbar puncture on Thursday so I wasn't supposed to exercise until tomorrow, but I went to a yin yoga class this morning. Yin is basically just stretching and gentle twists, so I wouldn't really consider it "exercise", so I figured it was OK. I'm fine...the stretch was nice. I just needed to do *something* because I'm not supposed to do my physical therapy exercises until tomorrow, either :-( My body needed to move...
it's going to be hot as blazes here, too, the next couple of days. I may go around in the car with DH and MIL some, but I may also just stay home much of the time and read or putz around. It's too hot to be out (except in air conditioning). Luckily, it's supposed to be much better by Tuesday.
QOTD: I haven't gone to a yard sale in years. We went to a lot of them when we bought our house because we were looking for furniture, tools, kitchen stuff, etc, but we have more than enough of all of that now. In fact, I'd like to start getting rid of some of my stuff. We moved my mom from a 2000 sq ft house into a 900 sq ft apt in a continuous care community about three years ago, and it was a nightmare going through her house and getting rid of 2/3 of her stuff. I don't want to be in the same situation when it's time for us to go into one (or into a condo later if we decide to do that first before moving into continuous care).
not sure what I'll be eating today. This week is going to be tough with MIL in town - she loves going to restaurants. I'll pass on some of them since DH can take her. And when I go, I'll try to stick to an appetizer. I can't afford to be eating out a lot this week since I'm at the top of my acceptable weight range.
2 years 11 months out:
B: homemade Greek yogurt with fresh strawberries
MS: coffee with half & half, Miralax/protein shake
L: if I have them drop me off at the house, then a turkey burger and some of that Asian-style kohlrabi salad I made the other day. If we go out, maybe a taco - or an appetizer (depends on where we go)
AS: ??
D: ??
ex: yoga
I messed up last night. Not sure if I ate too fast, or if the meatball was too dry... but I got this incredible intense and super painful stabbing pressure on my esophagus that spread across the right side of my chest. I ended up getting sick. My husband patted my back firmly the whole time I was on the floor. It helped so much. Once I finally got sick, it was like nothing happened. Completely fine.
Qotd: My grandfather is a yard sale fiend. He has always loved them and when we were kids he would take us with him. I will never forget my brother (4 or 5 years old) saw this gorgeous wooden rocking horse that he desperately wanted. It was listed for like 50$ I think. My charming cute little brother talked them down to 50 cents, which was all he had! I have always been convinced Grampy must have paid them more to make up the difference, because really that was too nice a rocking horse to just let go. But then, that wouldn't have been something Grampy would do...
Accountability: calories were low yesterday because of the getting sick incident... but otherwise all to plan, and lots of water.
BF: 1 soft egg, 1/3 serving cream of wheat
MS: 2oz cottage cheese
L: 1 tuna pouch, 1t miracle whip
AS: 1/4 cup refried beans, 1/2oz cabot extra low fat cheddar
D: not sure cause friends are coming over, but probably 2oz canned chicken and 1/4 cup sweet potato with a laughing cow wedge
A protein pudding cup for dessert, while my husband and guests have all the yummy things I bake today.
There's nothing worse than that feeling of pressure in the esophagus. I'm almost 10 years out and I still get it occasionally. Last week I had a small amount of pulled pork and brisket at a luncheon. I though I was chewing and eating small amounts but within a few minutes of leaving, I knew it had to come up. Last Sunday I had a few pork ribs. I took off any visible fat but those ribs gave me problems for hours. So, I'm avoiding beef and pork. Ground beef seems to be okay.
