What's on your (PHOTO) Friday Menu, RNYers?
Good morning menu folks! I really out did myself yesterday so I slept in a bit more this morning. Next week I'm going to try to start back to teleworking at least a few hours a day so I'm enjoying bumhood for a few more days.
JB, like you the weather is supposed to be in the 90s here and I SOOOO want to be out in it. And of course the outdoor pool opens too! ARGH! I so want to be out in it and enjoying being active! A hard hike, lots of laps and Aqua Zumba, maybe even break out my bike!
I saw the PS yesterday for my 2nd followup and he is super pleased with my progress. He took out 2 more drains, one of which had been really painful. I still have one in my abdomen and he wants it in for another week even if it isn't draining very much. He said that WLS patients do better with the drains in longer and I am happy to be safe rather than sorry! He also called me the Energizer Bunny and said that I need to sit on him for a while longer! I am limited to walking no more than 6 blocks (and he laughingly clarified that they weren't to be NYC avenue blocks! He's funny!) at one time. He did say that I could go 2 or 3 times a day with rest in between, but that it is essential not to do too much for the abdomen to heal.
JB, I am so sorry that your job situation is going slowly. Do you think that they are being intentionally hesitant for some reason or do you think it is just red tape? I wonder whether you should keep interviewing in the meantime even though this seems so sure.
After the PS appointment, I still had energy so we went out for lunch to a hole-in-the-wall Thai place. I had chicken satay (could only eat 2 sticks) and a small chicken Tom Yum soup. I was in heaven! My body doesn't like coconut milk and our local Thai delivery only has coconut based soups, so I love to get some Tom Yum when I can. I still had some energy left after lunch and we were close to Trader Joe's so we made a leisurely stop there too. I stocked up on smoked salmon (an easy meal), fruit for my wife, more nuts, fish and tea. I also did some browsing that I usually don't do when I am in my weekly hurry. By the time we were paying, I was shot and quite ready to go home and put my feet up. It was a great day but I had more fluid from my drain to show for it. Just a reminder that the Energizer Bunny must be restrained!
I slept in the bed for the first time last night and was able to get more comfortable and sleep better. Getting into bed was good but the twisting of getting out is still a little painful.
My appetite is slowly coming back but still smaller than it was...not a bad thing!
Breakfast: ham
Snack: Cappuccino protein shake, cashews
Lunch: smoked salmon, baby carrots if I had room left

The hesitancy is not about me (I'm told), it's about the process for letting the other person go which they want to do carefully. Which I get, and want them to do right... I just wish they had thought through the whole process before giving an unrealistic timeline.
But, of course, since this soap opera continues to move quickly, I have already gotten more POSITIVE news since my morning post. I'm set up to clear a big next hurdle on Monday. So stay tuned!
Glad to hear. I always get paranoid that there might be something else going on behind the scenes. Also it really is important that they treat the other person fairly too.

Interesting comment by your surgeon on drains. Mine said that many of his WLS patients heal slowly because they don't eat enough protein. I healed super fast because I did high protein - he was impressed because he said many people just don't get it. I know you are high protein as well so hopefully you will heal quickly too!

I didn't get tot he gym like I wanted yesterday but got to eat belated birthday dinner with my dad. it was a long event 2.5 hours. he eats reallllllly slowwwwww. :)

Gym later and I'm forcing myself to do at least 30 min of cardio. Not sure what that is about but I DO NOT want to do cardio. I suppose lifting has spoiled it for me.
no pic for today.
Good Morning, Happy Fri-Yay! Sorry they are dragging their feet offering the position-hope it all works out soon. I am looking forward to an extra day this weekend to do more "Spring" cleaning. Our weather is all over the place too! Rainy and high of 60-something today, and then it creeps about 10 degrees each day and almost 100 on deck for Tuesday then dropping a little again. I am happiest when the highs are in the 70s.
