What's on your Tuesday Menu, RNYers?
good morning everyone!
Last night was rough for me...I woke up around 2:30am with a TERRIBLE pain in my "stomach"...it felt very similar to when I had gall bladder attacks like 12 years ago but I don't have a gall bladder now! then I thought it might be acid reflux because it also felt kind of like that, only lower down in my abdomen than it used to be...of course everything is rearranged in there now so that might have been it...i just thought that I wouldn't get it anymore since RNY?
anyway I was seriously considering a trip to the ER but decided I would try some leftover Zegerid (dissolvable fast-acting omeprazole powder) that I had in my cabinet from several years ago...and it did the trick within about 15 minutes.
I am going to call my surgeon's office as soon as they open this morning and see if I should go back on the PPI...I just stopped taking it this week because he told me I only needed it for the first 3 months post op...now I am thinking since I stopped it this may be why I am getting this pain. I also had some pain yesterday morning for an hour or 2 after I got up but it wasn't as severe and since it went away I didn't think much of it til last night.
Really hoping it's not a sign of an Ulcer! I know being on PPI's long term are not healthy, so I am hoping this is nothing serious.
I also have my 3 month f/u with my NUT today after work so I will ask her what she thinks...she's probably not going to be too helpful but can't hurt to ask.
QOTD: I would also love a mini elephant! or maybe a Polar Bear...my favorite literary character is Iorek Byrnison from The Golden Compass trilogy. (he is an armored polar bear).
Morning: going with decaf today even though I am super tired from being up last night, I don't want caffeine to make anything worse...mixed with a whole caramel PP today to help up my protein.
B: chicken bfast sausage link and L&F greek yogurt
L: cheddar smoked sausage
S: gouda cheese stick
D: not sure yet...maybe tuna and cucumbers?

Oh no, I hope it is noting serious. I forget--are you are revision? I revised from the lapband, and while RNY has helped my acid a lot, it is not gone... Periodically I end up back on PPIs for a stretch, then go off until it gets bad again. I'm like you in not wanting to be on them if I don't have to, but some times it becomes unmanageable.
not a revision but I did have a history of bouts of periodic acid reflux for a while...was worst within a couple years of my gallbladder removal but has gotten a lot better and less frequent in the last 5 years or so except maybe during pregnancy.
I did speak to the PA today and she said that it did sound like it could be some reflux or even just residual irritation and that some patients need the PPI for a little longer, so she put me back on omeprazole to see if that helps. If not, I'll make an appointment to see the doctor and may need a scope.
keeping my fingers crossed this will fix it!

Good morning everyone! It's Tuesday... that's all I got. Well actually - I have a work pot luck today in my unit (usually they are in the break room and avoidable) and I'm worried I will give in and eat everything in sight (mexican theme -my fav food, heavy carb) I didn't bring anything safe and I don't know what will be there. I just didn't think about it, ugh. Wish me luck!
QOTD - Oh, I would want a little bear! How stinking cute would that be?
Accountability - spot on!
18 mo post op - 164.7 - yay!
b-coffee, tea, HB eggs
l-I just may have to fake a migraine to get out of it, haha!
d-sauteed shrimp and spinach w/garlic
v/l on track
Have a great day!

G'morning JB & all!
Happy Tue. Yesterday was so busy, I didn't even realize I hadn't checked in here until about 2:00 pm my time. I figured everybody has posted and read and all done.
How do you tell a loved one the present they got you "sucks"? For the last two years my husband had been insisting on getting me a Fitbit or an Apple Watch and I've been telling him I don't want it. I have a HR monitor chest wrap and the watch that goes with it I put them on when I'm exercising to know how many cals I'm burning, but other than that I don't need to be "monitored" all day long. Well, he goes out and gets me the Fitbit anyway. Kids told me they told him not to get it but somehow he gets stuff that HE likes for ME! So for the last two days I'm walking around with Fitbit and he keeps asking if I love it and isn't it nice that you know your sleep cycle and how many steps you take blah blah blah I'm giving it another two days then I'll take it off!
QOTD: Polar bear, hands down. They are my absolute favorite animals. Or a panda bear! OMG, I would squi**** so much I'm worried I might hurt him/her.
Accountability: cals:820, protein:105, carbs:28
B: protein coffee
L: shredded mex chicken
S: cheese
D: stir fry cauliflower rice and chicken breast
Have a great day everyone.

Well at least you get a gift, though I agree that a gift that he likes and you don't doesn't really count. DH did that a few times. But now he can't remember occasions (Alzheimer's) and no one else in the family has thought about taking him to get a card or gift when it is for me (I take him for other people). So I buy my own gift and tell myself that I deserve it as a substitute. He does get sad if there is a celebration and he realizes that he didn't do anything. The day after mother's day he tried to walk to a local store to get a card for me (got lost).

Aaaaw, Liz, that's so sad. I knew about your husband but I guess I hadn't thought of the details and logistics. I'm sorry.
My husband is the typical genius with his head in the clouds. When he zeros in on something he doesn't let go. He thinks I need one of those watches. We got him the Apple Watch about a year ago and he LOVES it so he wants me to love it as much! ¯\_(?)_/¯

Good morning!
i feel like a broken record, but today is the day I get back on track... again ugh! Thinking about doing the master cleanse with added protein shakes in to make sure I get 60-80 grams in. Thoughts? I'm getting desperate to get to goal and I feel like I just can't stay on track. Suggestions and tough love are very welcome! Helllllp!
Accountability: where do I begin?! Maybe I'll just say that it's been realllllly bad :(
qotd: I don't know. Octopus is my absolute favorite, but I wouldn't want to have anything that I'd have to keep in some kind of enclosure. Maybe a teeny weenie panda bear. They're so cute!!!
b- coffee with a splash of half and half
l- vanilla pp
d- grilled chicken breast
s- maybe yogurt. Thinking about giving up dairy for a month though.
v- patches
e- dog walk or bike ride. Left my bike at a friend's house over the weekend and I need to get it back home.
have a great day, protein peeps!
