What's up with fruit?

You were at support group, what does your surgeon recommend? Curious.

Berries are the lowest carb fruit. That being said during weight loss phase daily fruit and oatmeal isn't going to maximize your weight loss. It's never easier than it is now. Make it your job.

I hate to use the word 'bad' as food in itself is not good or bad. But is it a good choice for us where we are in our journey?

I eat something similar myself, but only started recently at almost 4 years out and in maintenance over two years.

Usually during Weight Loss phase most people eat protein first at all meals and because of limited stomach/pouch room and don't eat much else except a little bit of vegetables.

My surgeon's mantra was protein first then veggies then IF you have any room fruit then carbs. Never said no carbs just put it at the end of the list.

It doesn't get easier than it is right now to lose the weight and there is no advantage to losing slowly. A few people can lose the weight while eating some carbs, but if it stops working for you be willing to change.

So a oinkos triple zero and low-fat cheese stick a better choice?

i can't do eggs I do mostly chicken dipped in ff yogurt with dry ranch mixed in very little room for veggies though Also I can do humus for some reason beans work better than meat

If you're still in "losing phase" then YES! Yogurt and cheese is def better than oatmeal and berries. Calories from protein are much better spent than cals from carbs

It's odd that you can eat chicken but have trouble with eggs but everybody's different.

Yes that is a better choice, and the chicken dipped in ranch yogurt is fine too.

Hummus while it has some protein is more a carb. I would use only occasionally.

Listen in the beginning there is very little room for veggies. That's natural.

I enjoy eating fruit and it hasn't impacted my weight loss nor is it a trigger food for me. This doesn't mean I gorge on it or eat it everyday. By eating fruit I'm less tempted to consume desserts or processed food. YMMV

I've eaten fruit all along, but then, I'm not very carb sensitive, and I know a lot of people on here *are*. But my fruit servings have always been small - a few berries on my Greek yogurt, or 1/4 of a banana in a protein shake.

I eat some type of berries every day. It helps with my regularity.

Most of us would lose weight in the first year if we ate anything we wanted (pretty much). However, a large component of that first year of major weightloss is learning how to eat and maintain that loss forever.

You can feel free to take advice from people 3, 6 or 12 months into their journey, but you'll find most veterans (5+years) rarely eat oatmeal or fruit and maintain their weight. It's why people have significant regain - they fail to adapt their diet over the long term and treat simple carbs as an integral part of their daily diet.
