6 weeks! Coming quickly! I'm figuring out retirement her at home (vs. Florida) right now. I find that it is pretty easy to feel busy if you take advantage of programs in senior centers.

there's lots of stuff around here for seniors if you look for it - including senior centers! The public libraries also have lots of programming during the day, and there's an organization called PLATO that's geared towards seniors - they have tons of lectures, classes, and field trips. Also, there are a couple of very large continuous care retirement communities that have some amazing programming - not sure how much of theirs is open to the public, though.. Also, if you're 60+ and a Wisconsin resident, you can audit classes at the state universities for free!! (well, as long as there are seats available - which there often are..). My mother is always complaining about how bored she is (to be honest, I think the issue might be that she wants to live with one of us, though), but it floors me because there's so much around here for seniors. She just doesn't look for it. Once I retire, I'll drag her along to some places...

Good Morning Julia and Menu Family!

I'm glad you had such a great day yesterday, Julia!

QOTD: 5 years ago I was obese, had fatty liver disease, was told if I didn't lose weight I would be in complete liver failure within 5-10 years, (which is what my dad died of). I had high blood pressure, pre-diabetes, high cholesterol, bad arthritis in all my joints....I was a mess. Now my liver enzymes are normal, my blood pressure & cholesterol & A1C are all good, my arthritis no longer bothers me and I feel SO much healthier and happier!

Accountability: I went way over calories yesterday. Protein - 94, 1,602, Carbs - 142.

B: prosciutto & mozzarella sticks, banana

L: ham & cheese on 45 calorie bread

D: chicken stir fry with vegetables

S: prosciutto & mozzarella sticks, light & fit Greek yogurt

E: Walking Blossom

Have a fantastic day everyone!

~ Karen

Thank you so much, Julia! When my mom died (about 5 years ago), it hit me really hard and I decided I did not want to leave Saralisa motherless any sooner than I have to. I'm hoping to be around for a lot longer now!

Happy Thursday! I get to head home tonight so I'm pretty excited about the day!

accounabulity - I ended up having a caprese salad at dinner so calories were higher than I like but protein and carbs were in range.

Qotd - hmm, 5 years ago I had just moved to Phoenix and just accepted my first VP role --- and the imposter syndrome was strong and I suspected it was just a matter of time until they realized it was a mistake!! Now, I'm hoping to move back to Colorado, and while I just started new role, I know just about everyone is faking it and while I am in drinking from the firehose, I'm comfortable with it and know I will be successful.

hi all- yesterday was a good one though i didn't make it to the gym. now it has been two whole days in a row and I feel like a sloth. i did have my .50 wings and my .99 iced decaf coffee while i was out though so that was fun. I also finished the laundry floor with vinyl at 10 pm last night just have a few finishing touches and can get things back in order in there with my office also. also planted zuchinni, 3 things of cabbage, pulled out the raised beds to put those together. it is coming together though really slow. the last two days I've just worked in the house in the evenings instead of the gym.

I can't think of anything in particular from 5 years ago. I did go to Brazil and India for work and that was very exciting and tiring. I think I would have had more energy if I had gone now. and of course the clothes!!!! OMG would have loved to shop in india for clothes. I did get 2 tunics though in a specialty shop. there was one shop in the airport where i asked the guy, do you have size XXXXX because I knew what size I needed and he said, we don't carry that large. I was in shock and walked away.

food for today:

leftover chicken wings

blueberry coffee

pizza/salad day

GYM- long session today to make up for the last 2 days

I tried fitting into something from Korea at my biggest and I had the opposite problem--they kept handing me tiny clothes and saying "this will fit, this will fit!". Trying to make a sale, I guess, but there was no way. I was so embarrassed that I had to keep saying no and asking for bigger, which they clearly did not have.

Good morning :)

Not too much planned for today. I have a follow-up with the surgeon who did the scope and found the ulcer. Things are better but not 100% yet. Depending on the weather I have a couple projects I may tackle -- one sewing and one gardening :) And I bought a used bookcase last night so I am also in the process of organizing the sunroom. I'm hoping to have a charitable organization come and pickup items instead of me lugging them to the store to donate. I can't wait for it to be done!!

QOTD: Five years ago I had just met DH and we were living in a basement apartment at my grandparent's house. Having surgery wasn't even on my radar yet. I had just started my PhD program and was taking classes and doing research. We didn't have our puppies and definitely no real thoughts of having babies. Life is certainly easier and more relaxed at the moment.

Post-op three years, two months.

Breakfast - Greek yogurt and banana

Snack - toast and PB

Lunch - butter chicken

Snack - pepperoni and melty cheese

Dinner - bunless burgers and salad

Snack - pudding

All water and vits.
