What's on your Tuesday Menu, RNYers?
Good morning :)
We had a bad thunderstorm last night!! Definitely woke us all up. And then puppy 2 rolled off the end of the bed this morning. I think we will all be having a nap today.
I'm going to run a bunch of errands. I was supposed to go to Walmart yesterday on my way home from lunch but I ended up going to my friend's house to meet their new kitten. Oh my goodness, I'm not much of a cat person but I love kittens (who couldn't!!) Lol. It is only about four pounds and very fiesty.
QOTD: An awesome day is when it's warm and sunny so I can play with the puppies out in the yard. I would probably do a little tidying or weeding, read a book or play on my phone, and just chase the shade in my yard. I would love to get a hammock or lounge chair, but that is on a long list of things we want but don't need ;)
Post-op three years, two months.
Breakfast - protein shake
Snack - toast and PB
Lunch - leftover beef kabobs
Snack - Greek yogurt
Dinner - BBQ chicken and salad
Snack - pudding
All water and vits.
Good morning! Last days at work are always weird. However I suspect you won't be off from work for very long.
I am having lunch with former co-workers today and tomorrow. Today I am meeting a few people laid-off/retiring at the same time I left. Tomorrow I am seeing some still working in my old group. I'm looking forward to it, but I am NOT missing the work itself.
QOTD: Anyone who sees my posts knows that my ideal day off is being near the water. If it is warm, sitting and swimming at the beach, lake, or pool. If cool, walking on the beach. We are essentially 365 days of beach now (Cape Cod, Florida, Aruba).
2 Years, 1.5 months post-op
Always lots of coffee...
B: Eggs scrambled with cottage cheese and Canadian bacon
L: Tuna sashimi (going out to lunch with former co-workers)
D: leftover halibut (I didn't eat it last night)
S: apple (maybe protein bar)

I'm jealous of your beach life. I love it too! I'm planing on a long walk along Hingham Harbor on Thursday...
Good morning! It was a very odd night of sleep for me, because I have this CardioSTAT monitor on and my brain made sure I was aware of it all night so as not to pull it off by accident. It was fine, but messed my sleep up a little. The same thing happened when I did my sleep apnea test for WLS. I was so aware of the billion wires and stuff hooked up to me, and didn't want to toss and turn, that I'm surprised they were able to get a reading at all. This thing is just two stickers with a little strap between them with the device on it. They had to shave me to apply it, so that'll be fun later. My wife wants to remove them but I choose life, LOL.
The ride in was good, but damp after a night of rain. I've been filming my ride with a motorcycle helmet camera, and I've had some interesting things going on out there. Lots of people doing lots of funky things with their cars (and sometimes bicycles, sometimes pedestrians, but mostly cars). Lots of distracted drivers, and it seems to be breakfast sandwiches more than cellphones. There are too many of both, but that surprised me. I've submitted a couple of things to the police department that bothered me (cellphone use while cutting me off, someone running a school bus sign, etc.).
Menu is good today. Protein bar, meat sticks, a shake, a yogurt, I think I have a couple of small apples and a granola bar in there to mix with the yogurt for a bit of fibre without breaking the bank. Above all, I've been upping the water intake lately. It's never been a problem, but I wanted to up it anyway.
QOTD: My ideal day begins on the dock with a fishing pole, bright and early, and done by the time it gets too hot out to enjoy it anymore. Then getting out my tools to build something. I am going to build a cajon (box) drum this summer, and maybe dabble in picnic tables and lawn furniture to sell. After playing with my tools, I'd go for a bike ride, find a shade tree and crash out under it for a while before coming home to grill a nice steak (which I would only be able to eat a bit, but my youngest daughter is a carnivore and LOVES when Daddy cooks). I'd spend time in the hammock in the evening reading a book, maybe with whatever kid(s) crawl in there with me, and finish off the day with a bonfire with the family. My blue heaven, right there.
Mornin'!
I had so much stuff to do yesterday - tying up the car purchase (insurance, finding the title for the old car and taking it over to the dealership), trying to tie up this revocable trust we're doing (we're still not in agreement on one of the decisions - and I'm changing my mind on some things we originally wanted), and then trying to find a flight for DH to Portland, OR (why do I always have to make his travel arrangements? Ugh. Although better me than him - I'd be afraid he'd make some mistake that couldn't be corrected (without spending a lot of money!)). But the car is done, his plane ticket has been purchased (now, it's the hotel and the rental car - double ugh), and...I still have to deal with the trust. Our deadline to get all this trust-related stuff in is tomorrow. At least it'll soon all be behind me.
QOTD: waking up early, going to yoga, then going to a cafe or coffee shop armed with the newspaper or my laptop. Then maybe a day trip somewhere - I, too, like exploring towns around here...
I won two tickets to a screening of "Book Club". DH has some kind of social thing at work, so he can't go. Neither could a couple of friends whom I'd asked. I couldn't *imagine* seeing this kind of movie with my mother, so I asked my sister. Luckily, she was up for it. But my mother got wind of it and would like to go, too. Thank God the screening is full (overbooked, actually) - I think I would be embarrassed to see it with her. Yikes! My sister will just laugh..

Crustless Protein Pupmkin Pie? Please share the recipe!
it was actually here on OH right before Thanksgiving - I've made it several times.
I don't use a RTD vanilla protein shake in it, though - instead I use a cup of unsweetened almond or cashew milk and 3 scoops of vanilla protein powder. Sometimes I'll add some SF vanilla pudding mix, too, if it needs more vanilla..
