Congratulations on officially kicking off your planned retirement! I found the time went slowly at first at your point but suddenly it seemed to pass really quickly and then I was done! I did find it fairly easy to get into retired life in Florida, partially because we changed the environment but now I'm going through the steps of figuring out how to fill my time (so far I've added yoga a few times a week and an additional Alzheimer's support group).

I'm sure that will be an issue for me as well. I have visions of going to yoga or the pool every morning - and then reading the paper at a coffee shop afterward. But then...?? I'm involved in some organizations so I'll get more involved in them - and there are lots of activities in town like classes, lectures, etc - but I guess if i'm still going crazy, I can volunteer or find a part-time gig somewhere just to get me out of the house and keep me socially engaged..
Good morning! Good news on the job front! I gave a recommendation yesterday for someone who worked for me and was laid off at the same time I was. This sounds like a perfect job for her so I hope she gets it (I think she will). I might have been interested if I were still working.
Enjoy the Blue Hills - great place to enjoy the outdoors!
The day for us is all health related. Fasting blood tests in the next hour (I can't wait to have my coffee!!!), a physical for DH in late morning, and a mammogram for me in the afternoon. Fun, fun...
QOTD: On Cape Cod we have hardwood everywhere except the bathrooms and kitchen. I'd probably have it there too if I redid them. We use area rugs in a few rooms as well, but I do not like wall to wall carpet. In Florida we replaced the wall to wall carpet and vinyl with wood look tile everywhere. It looks great and is super easy to keep clean. Some people think it is slippery and hard to walk on. It really isn't slippery at all because it is textured to look like wood and it feels good on my feet anyway.

Good morning JB and Menu crew. Its my birthday today! I turn the big 5-0, I feel better at 50 than I did at 30. It is amazing how WLS has changed my life, I am thankful and blessed. Thankful for all of you as well, keep up the work and inspiration. Tonight we are going to my parents and then out to dinner. Italian, I think I will have chicken piccata.
Accountability - was good, went to the gym and then Joddie and I worked outside until almost 8 pm.
QOTD - Growing up we did not have any hardwood in our house, when Joddie and I built , she wanted more hardwood and I fought it. We did the dining room in hardwood when we built. A few years ago we put Bamboo hardwood in over half the house. I love it. We also put oak stair treads in to replace the carpet. ( Perhaps I should have listened in the beginning!)
B - premier protein shake
S - Fage 0% and almond butter
L - Ham chef salad
S - cheese stick and boiled egg
D - Chicken Piccata
E - off night, will get in my steps...
Stay Healthy my friends, Mike
