What's on your Monday Menu, RNYers?
Good morning JB and menu folks!
Monday is here again and back to work we go. I did some OT this weekend too but I did it from home so that was nice. I ended up getting sick on Saturday and only stayed at the Sheep & Wool Festival for about an hour. I was disappointed but my tummy was very insistent. I did feel mostly better yesterday and got in some swimming time.
QOTD: I got alot of first hand info from a mother and daughter who had RNY, the daughter with my surgeon. I also read alot online, especially OH, and bought several books and cookbooks.
Menu:
Breakfast: hard boiled egg, ham, plain oatmeal
Snack: Cappuccino protein shake, blueberries, cashews
Lunch: TJ's chicken sausage, baby carrots
Snack: Turkey breast, apple, almonds
Dinner: ?it will be late so maybe more turkey
Exercise: Aqua Zumba and some lap swimming, maybe a walk

Oh I have wanted to go to the sheep & wool festival for a few years, when I heard about it here from another old menu thread regular! I looooove sheep. I have a special affinity for the ones with the black faces. So cute! :) Sorry you were not able to enjoy it this year...
The NY Sheep and Wool in Rhinebeck, NY is in October and much closer to you. It is a big festival but the times that I've gone, they have less animals than MD.

Mornin' Menu Friends!
Congrats on the job offer, JB! It's always scary to turn down an offer, but if it's not a good fit, it's not a good fit. Plus you're doing really well with these interviews, so I suspect other offers will come along.
We didn't do much this weekend. We had plans to spend an hour each day cleaning in preparation for DH's mother coming (week of Memorial Day), but that didn't happen. Ugh. Hopefully it won't be like most visits when we end up putting off cleaning 'til the last minute - and then spend like six hours doing it!!
This is exam week - the semester is over on Friday. YAY!! Summers are great - very relaxed around the library. I'll have lots of time to get things wound down and tied up for my retirement - 57 days - YAY!!
Accountability was good this weekend - down 1.5 lbs - but why can't it be 5?? lol.
QOTD: I read a lot on the internet at first. Then a librarian friend (not at my library) confessed that she'd had WLS when I mentioned to her that I was contemplating it. I had no idea! She gave me a bunch of books on it - and told me about OH (I don't think she's been active on here for years, though). I also learned about OH at a support group I went to a couple of years before surgery. Most of my info has come from OH.
2 years 11 months out:
B: homemade Greek yogurt with homemade blueberry/blackberry sauce
MS: coffee with half & half, vanilla matcha tea protein/Miralax shake
L: chili
AS: Greek yogurt
D: probably another pork chop with vegetables
QOTD; this place and my center. I read a lot, posted a lot, etc.
So this weekend, Friday I didn't eat too well, Sunday was a crap shoot.I did throw away all protein bars except one that the stats weren't terrible at. Saturday we cleaned out part of our POD, we will have to clean out all of it by the end of May to not get charged another almost $300!! yikes, need that money freed up. Sunday was my dexa scan. It was good and bad. The bad is that I gained a total of 10 pounds since December. The bad is that it is 6 pounds of fat, 4 pounds of muscle. the 4 pounds of muscle in 5 months is quite awesome though. SO- now i get to do the work to continue the exercise muscle building but also reduce the 6 pounds of fat I added on. Will go back in 3-4 months to see how I'm progressing. I've gone back through MFP to see if I could find a period of time where the GAIN happened, and from thatI'm seeing it started when we moved into the nightmare house, and got worse (weight wise) the beginning of March when I started exercising again.
Food for today:
leftover rib/green beans
coffee miralax (had been relying on flax/chia/oat fiber for this but need to add back in) it just gives me the toots
almond milk/PP
Not sure on dinner just yet. need to think on it.
Good job on gaining that much muscle! How is your bone density? Keep at it!

I think it's great that you are getting the scans every few months so that you can really track things are see what is happening to the different parts of your body. I need to research having one done at some point. I don't do any strength training at all (all cardio) so I am sure I need to make an adjustment there but I truly love my cardio.
