Thank you! No I value everyone's comments and all are welcome contributions. It's major surgery followed by a lifetime commitment. Everyone's just looking out for me.

My GERD is two fold. I get the daily gnawing in my chest that's only resolved by eating and then every so often I get severe acid attacks. It starts with burping acid for a day, then my heartburn starts and it's a burning pain. Then everything tightens and I can bearly sip liquid and I get the heart attack type pains and then it goes into my throat and nose even!!

Sorry to hear about your GERD and thanks for sharing. I wondered if mine was due to my slidy hiatus hernia or the ill effects from the band being removed but I don't know.

Have you tried digestive enzymes?

Thank you all so much for your contributions. I don?t think there?s much else to say and some of the comments are getting off track! There are a lot of considerations. When I had the band I had it with the intention it would be there for life & I had to work with it everyday. Airplane travel and I couldn?t eat at all. During the time I had the band I couldn?t eat eggs at all and I?m a vegetarian. The malabsorption was prevalent even with the band and following a car accident I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and the lack of vitamin D among all others blamed for this. My band didn?t come with lifetime support and the self pay company weren?t great so I never used to go. My band was done via single incision and when it was removed there?s a biggish incision which I hate. Further surgery will mean the 5 incisions. I?m single and have to consider both the pros of surgery (losing weight, feeling good, having more confidence), against the negatives (my hair has only just started growing again, explaining my map of the world tummy to a potential partner, looking to conceive and deliver a baby in the future hopefully will help with PCOS) Sorry not looking to offend anyone with my comment about map of the world tummy it?s just that I?ve had a lot of gynae operations too. My existing health fibromyalgia. Will it improve / stay the same or possibly even get worse? I'll be back to not being able to take any medicines like with the band. Finally my BMI is considered too low to operate on me in my country so it means having to go further out to Europe and taking the support and fall out if any in my own country.

I value everyone?s comments & opinions. If anyone wants to pm me privately I?m more than happy to chat...

Wishing you all continued good health

RNY is actually NOT a negative with your desire to have a baby. Many people here (myself included) have successfully had healthy pregnancies after WLS. As long as you wait 12 months after having surgery, you'll be just fine.

The laparoscopic wounds are quite small. They don't even really use stitches to close them they just glue them shut. You just have to take care of them. No lifting!

Good luck and thanks for looking past all the drama!

Explore Mexico but don't get a sleeve. It will cause more GERD.

I've found a clinic and a surgeon I'm happy with. Surgeon suggests RNY and NOT mini bypass. It's self pay so I'm also happy with the cost... now making the final decision and weighing up whether or not to take that giant leap of faith and go for the surgery!!
