Thank you! I know..

even with the band the weight loss was temporary and then it was a case of maintaining it

This is definitely something you want to discuss with a surgeon. Mini bypass isn't covered over here so it's not a popular option and you likely won't get a very good "this or that" discussion going.

I still think lifestyle/behavior modification is your best option. You're gonna have to do it even if you have the surgery.

I know MGB isn't covered in USA and yet it was Dr Rutledge from USA who founded this surgery 10 years ago

Is one better for GERD over the other? That's what guided my decision. RNY vs sleeve.

I had the bypass for acid reflux. I am 1 week out. It's so nice to be able to drink even jus****er with no acid.

All the best in your journey ahead. My GERD feels like a heart attack

Mine was all the time, no matter what I ate or drank. Even water. No medicine helped.

Absolutely mini bypass or RNY are both best for GERD. I had a hiatus hernia and severe GERD before my band and the surgeon told me he'd fix it before placing the band (and didn't) but nonetheless it disappeared entirely for the first five years and came back in the final year of the band. Since removal I have or so so so bad again. I need the hiatus hernia fixed...

If you are willing to pay privately - is trip to Mexico an option?

With the hernia and band - best may be RNY. Check Mexico. Even with the cost of the travel - it may be possible.
