Body fat

Well, for reference I had my last DXA scan on 1/28/18 and my Aria thought I was 22.1% body fat and the DXA had me at 19%. I have my next DXA on Saturday. The Aria thinks I'm 20.3%, so we'll see. I will update after that!

Edited to add: It was actually quite a bit more off for my husband. The scale had him around 12-14% and the DXA said 17%.

Very interesting! I know since I'm starting out I only care that the number is going down lol. I'll worry about the specifics as I get closer, but DH has lost so much already that he's more just curious about where he wants to aim for his goal.

Update: My scale said 20.2% yesterday and my DXA said 17.5%. So it's not terribly off, but not dead on either!

I don't think it is very acvuaccufor someone who lost a lot of weight already.

I have a very good scale but within a few days it can measure my body fat as 15 or 25%. Depends on my hydration, and even humidity in the air. He needs to measure that for a few days and watch the trend for his body.

My Aria actually never varies for me. You can see my graph trends in my signature.

I have the original Aria and can give you my comparisons (spoiler alert - it hasn't been terribly accurate):

I am a 5'8" man.

180.9lbs
Aria: 21.2%
DEXA: 26.5%

146.4lbs
Aria: 9.7%
DEXA: 6.4%

143.8lbs
Aria: 8.6%
DEXA: 4.9%

149.2lbs
Aria: 11.2%
DEXA: 7.9%

152.5lbs:
Aria: 14%
DEXA: 16.3%

What I've found the most interesting is how my body composition has varied quite widely (per the DEXA and Aria) while my body weight has remained somewhat stable (+/- 9lbs). The first scan where I am near my maintenance weight (my maintenance target is 152lbs) was right when I hit maintenance. I will probably be heading back in for another scan in the next month or so and am at 146.0lbs as of this morning (and 11.9% on the Aria), so I'm curious to see if this correlates well to either the previous weights or the previous Aria BF%.

That is interesting! Thank you for sharing! I'll be interested to see where DH is it/when he goes for his DEXA scan.

Yeah, not terribly accurate IMHO. With a BF scale can see trends, for sure, but you can't know what your BF% with any real accuracy. My BF% trend line more or less mirrors my weight loss trend line, but its value is negligible I think.
