Body fat
im asking this question on behalf of my husband who thinks support forums "aren't for him" but always asks me to search things on here for him anyway ;)
we just got an Aria 2 scale and fitbits (mines on backorder unfortunately). When he stepped on the scale it measured his body fat at 24%. Does anyone know how accurate that is compared to an actual DEXA scan? He wants to schedule one regardless, we're just curious. He is 6"5', started at 520 lbs and now weighs 305, and wanted to lose another 50, but now he's wondering if he even has that much more that he should lose without losing muscle.

What is his waist measurment? For me, I believe this is a much more important measurement than bodyfat percentage. Men tend to carry their weight around the middle which is not good for their health. From what I have read for men, his waist should be less than half his height. So for 6' 5" tall (77 inches), his waist should be less than 38 inches.
Normal bodyfat for men is 18-22% so 50 more pounds sounds reasonable.

I think he's sitting around 42, so he's not too terribly far off. He hasn't even reached his 1 year surgiversary yet, so I'm thinking there's still plenty of time left in his honeymoon period to get down to his goal :)

I don't have a scale any more that measure body fat, but I've been very happy with my Dexa scans. You might want to do one in a few months to see how your bone density is.

That's an amazing achievement on his part but really unless you're an NFL lineman you don't have any business weighing 300 lbs.
Yeah, he's hoping to get to 225-250

I have the FitBit Aria scale. It measures BF through an electrical impedance, like the handheld ones. To get the BF measurement, you have to be in bare feet--it won't work at all with socks on and you'll get ??? as a result. That method of measuring BF is not super accurate, but it's good for keeping an eye on trends. Hydration and electrolyte balance can also affect the reading. The DEXA is going to be the gold standard and then you'll use the scale to watch if things are trending up or down.
Let us know how the DEXA turns out for him. I'm kind of curious.

This was a bit more what I was looking for, if anyone who had the aria 2 has been able to compare their results to an actual DEXA scan just for curiosity
