I also developed milk protein allergies. Whey worst that casein.

It took me 2 years but I now can tolerate some cheese. Still not yogurt, whey, cottage cheese. But hard cheese or even butter is ok.

Fyi- some ghee is certified whey and casein free. I could used it even if I could not use butter.

Lots of people think dairy allergies are lactose intolerance. It is not.

Dairy allergies is allergies to milk proteins- whey and casein. (Plus plus other type of dairy proteins)

I am tired to explain that to people who try to be helpful telling me that cheese or yogurt have no lactose therefore it is safe for me to eat.

Even in a hospital setting. Or doc office. Some meds has lactose as a ingredient- filler. I am fine with lactose, just not with whey or casein.

How about soy based?

Beside dairy proteins allergy I also had soy, so I could not use that, but soy proteins can be used in coffee.

When I really need protein shakes I use Vega. But I would never use it in coffee. Too grainy.

Thanks for the suggestions. Due to a cancer issue, I can't use soy products either so my diet is often limited in result.

The only ones I can tolerate is vegan Vega smoothie protein powder. I tried egg white, and in no time I could not tolerate that either. But I do great with whole eggs. I really use shakes now, but if I do - only Vega. I have so many others that I now add little by little to my keto backed goods. Not a lot- since it can change the flavor and taste of foods I am baking.

Look into soy protein; the EAS stuff isn't too bad. The vanilla would probably work well in coffee.
