I seriously doubt there's a single soul in here that hasn't had their "cheetos and ice cream" day. I remember my first time in "onederland" I celebrated by having a slice of pizza. The most important thing is to make sure these lapses are most definitely the exception and not anywhere near the rule.
You should venture out menu-wise and try things. When's the last time you had a delicious serving of ratatouille? Or a roast chicken Caesar salad? Point is there's a lot of really good food that you can enjoy that will help you reach your weight goal.
I'm 17 months out and also need a kick in the buttocks! I've gained nearly 8lbs from my low in January... and why are Cheetos so yummy?
People keep telling me to not be so hard on myself and give myself a bit of grace, but that is NOT me. I need to get this back on track. I made a giant pot of weigh****chers zero point taco soup yesterday and that's my food for the week. And veggies. And I need to drink the damn water! UGH. I'm so annoyed by myself.

Hey Melissa! I know how you feel, well...haven't reached goal yet but I know the feeling of back sliding. People who say to take it easy have not been in our shoes and have not felt our struggles. They don't know the slippery slope that we fight against.
Stay strong and do what works for you. I got right back on track yesterday and had a great day, cals:618, protein:80, carbs:23. I just need to stick with this.
Funny thing about Cheetos is I never liked them and didn't eat them before WLS. We get the Trader Joe's version for my husband, he likes them and he's never had any weight problems. All I can guess is that I was craving carbs and the only ready to eat thing was Cheetos. Now even thinking about it makes me sick.
Hang tough!

sweetart,
By being easy/hard on ourselves, we may have a differing assessment of what those terms mean. You seem to think it means just go " long-heading on" with the same mistakes... when I don't mean it that way at all.
When I say "don't be hard on yourself", it means " Stop beating yourself up, about one bad choice and get it back on track.."
...It means you are accountable to yourself and choose to avoid that same mistake in the near future. It means you are in the game of living to your fullest.
Be happy, as you continue your journey, it will only add to the good hormones and enhance your weight loss...anger, stress and cortizol all slow weight loss...
Most of us here, have been in the same shoes you wear and preach and live these things on a daily and sometimes hourly basis. All of us have our individual pit-falls, triggers and we have to learn ourselves very well to avoid our own. So don't be hard on yourself, but learn what you need to do to get and maintain where YOU desire to be.... apply those lessons in the coming days and years.
Be sure to...Write down any intolerances, food/diet/ medication intolerances and include allergies...( and tell someone where the list is).....this could be especially important should you become incapacitated and unable to communicate suddenly. None of us want to think about this ,but it happened to my Mom. i was thankful I knew which hip hurt her the worst, what foods she had to avoid, that caused heartburn...as I cared for her in her final months.
Cheetoes are yummy because they have addictive neuro-toxins in them...ie.., (read MSG) and other things that are hard to spell and say.
You might find it easier to be on track if you don't tire yourself out on one recipe... mabe make a second one up that is on your favorites allowed list and alternate those out. ( I never thought I would get tired of green chili, my altered high protein recipe- but i did...)
Try adding a squeeze, to taste, of lemon or orange to your water, if it is hard to get down,( if you like them).... it will also give you a little boost in vitamin c, and a very small amount of calories/carb...
I hear you; I also need a kick in the pants. I was sick for over 3 weeks and depressed from the long winter that finally ended this week, and started eating more carbs as comfort foods. The worst thing is I didn't even enjoy them (except for the crackers, which I always enjoy, lol).
Many of us go through this and like the others have said, the best thing is to go as carb free as possible to kick the cravings again.
I'm just thankful the sun is shining and the snow is almost gone, finally.

Kathy, that sounds like seasonal affective disorder... next time you feel it kicking in you might try getting a natural biright light bulb and put in a lamp near where you sit....and sitting under it for 30-45 min. a day. It helped me when I moved from my current latitude for a time...I also boost my B complex liquid sublingual during those carb cravings.. ( from one cc to 2 cc daily, suggested by nutritionist) these two strategies shorten those to 2 days...and that enables me to get thru without massive damage or gain...
Pretty sure everyone goes through this. The important thing is that you realized it was happening. Throw out everything in your house that you aren't supposed to have and erase carbs for three days. It's gonna suck, but you worked hard to get this far, you can do it!
