What's on your menu today (Monday) RNYers
Follow-up to my earlier post
Wow it is true that you have to be your own medical advocate. I really have great doctors, but some are very conservative. That works at times. My Hematologist just emailed me to restart the full regimen of Lovenox. I pretty much told her no (words deleted). I pushed to go onto the same titration plan that the Vascular surgeon had me on post my RNY - which was 75% lower in strength per day. She said fine, but only after I pretty much told her she could Rx that or I'll self-medicate that strength on my own. Not nice of me, but I'm NO VAMPIRE!!!!

Hello Everyone
i had a nice weekend but not ready to get back to work today. Why is it I always want one more day off.
Accountability: Saturday was great but yesterday was not so. Back on the protein wagon today. I'm finding I do much better if I dont eat until noon. I have premier protein in my morning coffees but if I start eating to early I have trouble by the end of the day. Such a learning process.
QOTD: Such a good question... I think I'd enjoy getting in a car and just driving where ever I feel like at the moment. Seeing anywhere in the country Wed like along the way.

I like hot tea and I've bought myself a few nicely flavored (non caffeinated) teas that I'm trying to keep for that afternoon "treat".

Happy Monday all!
This weekend was great! I spent all Sunday moving my plants outside and planting flowers. I put up a bird feeder too and we now have a mated pair of Cardinals who visit us! I'll have to upload some pictures when I get a chance.
Accountability: I have cheated on my pre-op diet every day sense I started (on last Monday) expect today.
QOTD: I would love to take a world tour visiting the ruins of ancient civilizations. Give me everything from the Mayans and Aztecs to the Egyptians, Vikings, Celts, and Chinese!

I would recommend making a huge effort not to cheat on your pre-op diet: First so the liver shrinking effect won't be lost and second to get in the mind-set you are going to need in the long run to lose weight and keep it off after WLS. Because of the first reason, make sure your surgeon is aware that you have not fully followed your pre-op diet. Surgery with an enlarged liver can be dangerous.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I fought with myself so hard about calling the surgeon, but yes I did end up doing that this morning. I'm still waiting to hear back from her and see if I'm still on for the 3rd.
If she does still let me get surgery May 3rd, I can at least say that this past week has been very informative. I realized I cheated regardless of if I felt good, bad, and neutral. I also realized it didn't matter how I ate during the day. I could eat great or horribly and still want to cheat (and it was always in the evenings). So it was totally mental. Now I'm trying to deal with that lol

Yes most of our overeating is definitely mental. The evening is one of the most dangerous for me too (still). Good for you in gaining better understanding of yourself. Best of luck!
