OMG Freaking out!
My surgery is on Monday and I have been on the Optifast diet for 3 weeks. I've been basically good but tonight (Saturday) I fell off the bandwagon. I had 3 cookies and 5 pizzelles. I'm freaking out right now. I hope this won't affect my surgery.
The thing is I kept eating the darn things knowing full well that I should not be doing this.

Stop and get back on track.
I have no idea how your surgeon will respond especially since your surgery is on Monday. Every one is different. You should say something though.
Good Luck

"I am so stupid."
Whoa! Can we back it up a little? You're NOT stupid. You are human. 99.9% of us here on OH got to the point of needing surgery because we use food for things other than fuel. Most of us use it to cope. That isn't going to change overnight.
You're doing your best and I'm pretty certain that won't be happening again. You do need to let your surgeon know sooner rather than later. Actually, if your surgery is Monday I'd probably call his answering service right now and leave that message. Telling him tomorrow morning when you show up for surgery prep probably isn't the best idea.
Please don't beat yourself up. You had a lapse in judgment while you are under the considerable amount of stress we all endure just prior to surgery. In other words you made a mistake. Frankly, it would be much more dangerous if you had eaten the cookies immediately postop.
Call your surgeon now and do exactly as he says. Looking forward to seeing you post on the other side of surgery soon. You'll be just fine.
You definitely don't want any solid food in your GI tract come surgery time. Your system is basically "frozen" because of the anasthesia and pain meds. Any solid is going to be stuck there rotting away and causing unpleasant feelings and gas. And obviously it wouldn't be very good if your surgeon cuts your duodenum and cookies come pouring out
Personally I also had a Monday surgery and I had a pretty big "goodbye breakfast" Saturday morning. But there was 48+ hours of liquids prior to surgery.
Whatever you do don't eat anything today and go heavy on warm clear liquids.
Good luck!
I would confess to your surgeon as it could affect whether or not your liver shrinks enough to safely do the surgery.

****UPDATE****
Good morning everyone and thank you so much for your feedback and help.
I had a lousy night so this morning I called the hospital asking for the bariatric nurse/surgeon on call to contact me to discuss. Well, my own surgeon called me back. His name is Dr. Hagen and he's a wonderful and lovely man. He explained to me that one slip is not going to alter my liver nor put the surgery in jeopardy. He was impressed with my weight loss of 18 lbs and said I had nothing to worry about and THANKED ME for contacting him to let him know. He was happy to put my fears at ease so that I could have a great night sleep tonight. He's my new hero!
Now I can have a restful day and night before my big day tomorrow.
Again thank you to you all for giving me the push to contact my surgeon.
OK, this sounds like you got a "get out of jail free" card. Do not eat anything else.
If you try to self-sabotage again right after surgery I hope you find a therapist you can talk to about this.
Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Yes, Laura in Texas:
I am thanking God this morning many times over. Believe me I don't want to put myself through what I went through last night ever again!
It's that mindless eating syndrome that most of us have when trying to deal with stressful situations. I have gotten so much better at it since I started my journey back in June 2017 but I still slip and fall.
I do have an appointment with a therapist after the surgery and I am looking forward to shedding whatever it is that gets me into sabotage mode.
Thank you for your well wishes.
