Flab care?

I have lots of loose skin on my abdomen and upper thighs since I have lost weight. I am hoping to have a tummy tuck or lower body lift but not until fall or winter. My body has always easily gotten infected hairs and rashes in the "moister" areas, so I am really concerned about how I will manage the lose skin on my abdomen this summer with the heat and sweating, especially with exercise.

What have you done to prevent skin problems post-weight loss? I am hoping to avoid infections, etc.

At times I found some relief using like a Goldbond type of powder in those areas.

My derm has me using the the fungal powders - affectionately known as foot fungus or jock itch powders. I use it every morning and night (particularly right after a shower or coming out of the pool... - not while I still wet though). Has worked perfectly so far. I did get all kinds of problems early on, but not since I started using regularly.

I wore shapewear even in the summer. It kept my skin from rubbing against itself which prevented the chafing/bleeding for me.

I've used nystatin from my dr...but was told it can thin the skin...Soooo I use desitin now and have used foot fungal powders also...

Make sure you work with your doc to document any rashes and treatment--anything to show the negative impact on your health and well-being to prompt insurance to at least pay some of the cost of plastic surgery. That's not to say to let rashes get bad on purpose, however. Summer is a challenging time for loose skin issues and there are some good suggestions here. :D

ive had this same issue particularly in inner thigh area where there is a lot of skin- will be interested in responses.

I always used an antiperspirant deodorant stick and rubbed it in those areas.

Interdry is a silver impregnated textile that comes in a Roll it is antibacterial and can be tucked into skin folds to wick any moisture from the fold to the outside of the fold to prevent or heal rashes and skin breakdown. Gold Bond was my friend for a long time. Now all those areas are just kind of rough and ready. My biggest problem was bike riding taking a toll on the Lady Bits... still an issue unfortunately.
