Mornin'!

a couple of easy days ahead - but then I work all day Saturday. Boo.

I mentioned a week or two ago that a friend of mine has been trying to recruit me for a post-retirement job. It sounded perfect and I was planning to apply, but she emailed me the new position description yesterday. It *was* 16 hours a week (Mon-Thurs, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm), but they've added some responsibilities (which is OK) and increased the hours to 20-24 a week. They said hours are flexible, but 20-24 is going to mean either working every day, or if I stick to a Mon-Thurs schedule, then that's like 9-2 or 9-3. If I'm going to work 9-3, I might as well work 9-5. In which case, I might as well stay exactly where I am. It's not like I'm unhappy in my current job or anything - I just want a lot more time to do the things I've always wanted to do but don't have time to because I have to work. So...no thanks. It would have been a good post-retirement gig, but other opportunities will come along (that is, if I decide I even want a post-retirement gig...)

Accountability - good choices yesterday. Went over my calorie budget by 100 kcal, but I went to Aqua Zumba last night which probably took care of that (not that I use exercise to offset extra calories, though). Down 2 lbs this morning - YAY!

QOTD: I use a Sonicare electric toothbrush. I use Sensodyne or Colgate for sensitive teeth in the morning, and a high-fluoride, prescription toothpaste before going to bed. I try to floss every day, but it's often more like 4-5 times a week. I also use generic antiseptic mouthwash c. every other day. I've never had problems with my teeth (other than 4 or 5 cavities), but I do have mild periodontal disease (I have the prescription for high-fluoride toothpaste because I was worried about those rare WLS-related dental problems, which my dentist said he'd personally never seen, but I was so freaked about it that he prescribed this special toothpaste...probably just to make me feel better..)

2 years 10 months out:

B: homemade Greek yogurt, homemade blueberry sauce

MS: coffee with half & half, Miralax/protein shake

L: meeting a friend at an Indian place. They have a buffet at lunch, but I'm going to order off the menu. I'm thinking tandoori chicken or (tandoori) shrimp

D: meatballs and marinara sauce over zoodles

afternoon or evening snack (if needed) - L&F yogurt or 2 T peanut butter on celery sticks

ex: yoga

My company offered me a post-retirement consulting job which would have had flexible hours but I would have had to be available for certain regular meetings every week. I thought about it for the first 6 weeks after I left and decided I didn't want to make even that level of commitment.

hey all

I worked yesterday, then left for gym and debated between rpm or aqua fit and so i did sauna for 10 min then rpm tabata class. I enjoyed it. then i got a coffee, gas in car and came home. made some yummy tilapia for dinner last night with green beans.

EDITED for BEAR update: trap was set Tuesday night- no bear caught yet and there is an entire loaf of garlic bread and sardines in there. I would GLADLY get caught to eat an entire loaf of bread! come on now!!

food for today:

protein pancake

coffee

coffee

dinner will be crack chicken with spinach seasoning instead of the ranch, I'm shaking it up - lol

lunch will probably be some shiritaki noodle something- maybe tuna?

QOTD: I use a regular toothbrish but have a sonicare really nice chargeable one also. I like GEL toothpaste only, will not use paste. So DH gets paste and I get gel. and I generally do not buy the toothpaste it is given to me by the store with coupons for free, and sometimes they pay me to take it! I use the generic mint waxed floss but I do really love the glide floss it is just pricey.

Good morning, I?ve been reading these posts for some time and value the knowledge from the vets. I?m only 4 weeks out and in the ?minced? phase , almost soft foods. I wanted to post , as a newbie, to see if I?m way off track on anything. There?s a lot of opinions, on forums and nutritionists, and sites so sometimes it?s a bit confusing.

B- 1 egg omelet with laughing cow light cheese

L- 1/4 cup of chicken with a bit of low fat mayo ( tried not to put much but needed it moist)

D- stuffed portabella mushroom (1/2 of one), again with laughing cow cheese and shrimp

Also had one protein drink. No snacks , mostly because I find it hard to fit in with my fluids and I?m also cautious about calories/ fat/carbs. All foods were cut into very small pieces and chewed to death.

Your menu looks good and your macros do too. When I was in the losing phase, I stayed under 30 g of carbs, for the better part of a year. I always found that my pouch didn't love food first thing so I did a protein shake for breakfast for about a year. It's a great way to get in 20 g of protein first thing. I definitely recommend a digital food scale (I got one on Amazon) since it's hard to measure chicken strips in a cup for example...by weighing my food on the scale, I knew that I had 2.5 oz or 3 oz of turkey, since clearly I am not good at eye-balling portions which is what got me over 300 lbs in the first place!

And make sure you are sipping water (or decaf tea or whatever your drink of choice is) all day...except during meals and for 30 mins after. I always aimed for 100 oz of water a day. I still drink 3 32 oz bottles of water a day. Being hydrated is really important.

But great job so far!
