I'm not sure how encrypted text messages are-- I suspect not very. I would not be sharing confidential health information in this unencrypted fashion.

Same. The fact that the surgery center is OK with doing it that way is a huge red flag for me as well if the nutritionist and surgeon work that closely together. No way would I want to converse with my medical team over messages!

You can work with other clinicians like a PCP or Gastroenterologist. Your surgeon's office should share your medical records with them, especially the op report. Don't assume your surgeon is the only one that can manage your long term care. There are many bariatric knowledgeable medical professionals - be your own advocate to find them and utilize their expertise, especially if you're not getting the help you need.

I think your issues are most likely due to dehydration. You MUST drink MORE than 64 oz a day. Are you taking too big of sips and then giving up when it causes discomfort? If so, you need to drink just a small sip at a time, like 1 oz small. It sounds like you're very busy so I recommend you purchase and wear a CamelBak hydration pack all day long. This way you can better track how much you drink a day and have it readily available to take tiny sips at any moment.

There are now encrypted text services specifically for medical offices/agencies to communicate with patients. My agency just started using one.

I was nauseous on and off for a long time. I had to schedule until I was a year out exactly how I was drinking my fluids. 8oz before breakfast 16 Oz between breakfast and lunch etc. plus tea etc.

get a crockpot and make sure your food is moist. Eat it. Chew bites the size of an eraser head.

There are probably a 1000 proteins out there. Keep looking. Costco, Vitamin Shoppe and GNC will allow you to return open containers if you don't like it. I remember at 5 weeks feeling like I was going to vomit from protein shakes. Then I found the coffee flavored ones and those got me by.

Of course you should check with your Doctor but you have to just keep trying different things til you find what works. In the beginning sometimes it is really hard. You will get past it. Good Luck

I had my first surgery 10 years ago, and because of my LapBand, I was on shakes for a long period of that time. I have never, not. once. ever., found a pre-mixed shake that I can stomach. I think they are absolutely nasty. But I learned to use powders to make my own with all different types of powders and all different types of milks (non-fat, coconut, almond, etc.). I use Torani syrups and sugar free puddings to add flavors.

Meanwhile, I just want to say you are all over the place in terms of what you are saying the problem is. In one post you say you are a rockstar about drinking, but in another, you say you are not up to 64oz. And yet another, you say you have needed IV fluids because you are dehydrated...You can't have it all the ways. If you are not drinking 64oz, that is 100% your problem. Make it 80oz every day and then if you are still sick, you know that dehydration is not your problem.
