Still incredibly sick...
The nutritionist is not a doctor. You must call the doctor's office or have the surgeon paged by his staff, and let them know, because potentially being unable to keep liquids down is a life-threatening situation. And, you need protein to heal well. We can do without it for a brief period, but you will really need it.
I've had nausea since my surgery, but I've been able to drink. Even if food makes you nauseous you must be able to drink. You can also be dehydrated and not be thirsty, especially since you said you can't even drink water some days. Definitely call the surgeon ASAP. The nutritionist cannot order medical tests or give surgical advice. And, do not underplay your symptoms when you do speak to the surgeon. Be very honest.
I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

If you aren't calling the office directly they may not feel that you are seriously suffering, since you are texting. Definitely call and do not text. I guarantee if you call the doctor's office and tell them you are having issues drinking even water they will respond quickly.
And good luck :)

I wrote a couple of weeks ago about being ridiculously nauseated etc. Im constantly, severely nauseated and i feel like there is a lump in my throat all the time. I dont eat really all that sounds good is water and some days i cant even do that. My surgeon and NUT says theyre baffled by this... how have they done tons of these surgeries and never heard of this? I am so nauseated i can barely live life...and i have 4 kids i cant keep going like this. Its taking a tole on me mentally and emotionally. Im not usually a complainer but yall, this is bad. I almost feel like im suffering. Nothing sounds good if i think about drinking it my stomach turns...if i try to drink anything my stomach turns. Ive ried premier clear. Protien 20, nectar..and regular premier protien. Ive already got dehydrated and got iv fluids once... but not since (since all i drink is water and alot of it)
Ive tried zofran melts, phenergen suppositories, and they even sent me home with shots in muscle (OUCH BTW)(for us to do ourselves, from the urgent care center) of zofran...highest dose... nothing touches this nausea...sometimes ill even cramp.
Idk what else to do or try.
Has anyone come close to experiencing this? I was 5 weeks out monday.
Thanks for reading, i know its long.
I think you are severely dehydrated, which can be life threatening.
I would demand that my surgeon order iv fluids for me to get well hydrated and then see if the nausea goes away. Dehydration causes nausea.
After the iv fluids drink like your life depends on it, cause it does.
this is NOT normal.

I got iv fluids twice. I was still nauseated.
Maybe i should try that again?

Did you start really hitting the fluid immediately after getting hydrated? I mean slamming it down.
Were you nauseated immediately after and during the hydration?
I would keep getting hydrated until I could drink 64 oz min every day.

Color me skeptical. If you are "really good about it," why did you need IV fluids?

I'm perplexed. Because you wrote this^^^^^ (above), and also because in your first post you mention that "all i drink is water and alot of it".
When I first read the thread and saw that you had to go in for IV fluids twice at only five weeks out, my mind went immediately to how dire your situation must be and how we could encourage you to keep finding ways to get fluids in. People can live without food but for a very long time but they cannot live without fluids. I wanted you to call your doctor and not your nut. I still think you should.
But you are getting lots of water as you've been mentioning so I am really confused. I don't know that you're dehydrated. We can live a very long time without food so there are no real worries there other than your nausea. (I believe that you were dehydrated and needed fluids at the hospital. It's just hard to tell what the underlying issue is.)
What's most puzzling is that you are getting in "a lot" of water, yet you remain dehydrated. It just doesn't makes sense. Is there a missing piece here? Or is it just me?
