How long from by- pass surgery until I can go on previously booked and paid for cruise?!
My by pass surgery will be in the beginning of May and I have previously scheduled and paid for a two week cruise starting October 6. It involves some walking but Im most concerned about the eating and availability of appropriate shakes, also - access to bathrooms on walking tours of Venice and Greece. Non- refundable. :-( Now I'm stuck and I don't know if I can take that cruise. 4 months after my gastic by-pass! Desparate for advice!
Congratulations on your surgery!!
Barring any serious complications, you should be just fine to go on a cruise. The vast majority of us are back to our version of normal by then.
Just make sure you stay hydrated and make the best food choices possible. It sounds like a fabulous way to spend two weeks.

You will only be using shakes for the first month or so post-op. By 4 months out, you will be just fine.
Take a look at the daily menu thread to see what others are eating at the 4-month mark. Most folks are eating dense protein like chicken, fish, and beef, which you should be able to find on the cruise ship with no problem.
If you're worried about having appropriate food when you're out and around, throw some protein bars in your bag. (Make sure they have 10+ g protein for every 100 calories.) Those are a good backup to have.
Your bathroom habits probably won't change too much post-op, so no worries about finding restrooms on the walking tour.

You should be fine! I'm 8 weeks out and I've done 2 pleasure trips and one work trip with two more scheduled between now and end of may, even with the various phases of eating, it's not been bad at all.
The cruise should have lots of options, you'll just need to make good choices! Protein, dairy -- you could get real greek yogurt in Greece!
You could also bring some of the individual protein shake powders like syntrax or celebrate 20. I've started just keeping a few of the Celebrate 20 in my bag, that way I always have them to mix. Last week I got a cup of steamed milk from the coffee shop, mixed it with the Celebrate Peanut Butter Cookie and enjoyed a nice warm liquid cookie for most of my flight back.
You'll be set -- and get your exercise goals every day!

Four months should be no problem. I went to Aruba at 2 months and had a great time. At 4 months post-op I felt better than my pre-WLS 100%.

Easy peasy. By then you should have lost a bunch of weight, and should be much better able to enjoy yourself.
