B12 question
My does is the same as Cheryl's up there ^^^^^ 3000 per day sublingual.
But. My latest labs (last week) show that my B12 is high. I have a doc appointment Friday and am almost certain she's going to tell me I'm over-supplementing. All of these dosages and ranges are so personal. That's why it's really, really important to track your own lab results.
edited to add: I take 2000mg of calcium citrate per day. And even that doesn't seem to be enough to make a dent in my calcium numbers. You probably ought to listen to Grim others on that 1000mg daily dose that you (the OP) are on; it's likely a bit low.
Thanks everyone! I am super paranoid about becoming deficient, but also I don't want to be over-supplementing and end up with other issues, so I am definitely going to make sure I get my labs checked regularly and take all my vitamins religiously. I do fill my weekly box every Sunday (4x/day compartments) and have only forgotten one dose in 2 months so far, so I think I'm doing pretty well LOL.

i take the sublingual b-12 sporadically- about once every 2 weeks.
my levels have been fine
Just a quick caution supershopper. It looks like you are a little over two years out?
For the first couple of years we get by without supplementing but only because we are using up our vitamin stores. Around year three and certainly beyond we exhaust those supplies and supplements become essential to our continued health.
I'm glad, but not surprised, that your levels have been fine. Just want to encourage you to pay close attention as you get farther ou****ch for downward trends and address them right away. You want to manage your levels as they are falling because once they are low it's exponentially harder to get them back up.
I decided to go with monthly shots my health plan covers and I get them from the nurse at my Doctors office. Figured it was one less to worry about.
Is a DEXA a bone density scan? I've had a couple already as I have a family history of osteoporosis, is there a time frame to getting those done?

Yes, a DEXA is a bone density scan. Just a quick xray in 3 spots. They are recommended right gefore surgery, as a baseline, and every 2 years after.

My surgeon also recommends 500 mg per day and then uses labs to determine if that amount taken needs to be changed.
