Hey Menu Makers! How is everyone? Did you all have a good weekend? Mine was good, busy but good. Oh and cold! It was sunny here all weekend but COLD & WINDY. Seriously Mother Nature enough already.

Accountability: I did have a few planned snacks that I don't normally have but I did work them into my daily totals so all good. I had a ice cream cone and one slice of bread with jam.

QOTD: What time do you wake up and what time do you go to bed and do you sleep well now post surgery? I get up during the work week at 4:45am and go to bed usually at 11pm (I am just not tired before 11pm). I sleep like crap now post surgery. Its very upsetting. According to my Fitbit I average 4-5 hours of sleep. I have tried OTC sleep aids, they don't work. I have no idea why but I am not tired in the evenings and so going to sleep is hard and I wake up several times in the night. I hate it but not sure how to fix it. I need sleep training classes

Time since surgery: 4 yrs + 5 mos

B: lots of decaf & vanilla PP used a creamer + vanilla activia yogurt (by the way friends because this is a probiotic yogurt and its helping a lot with going to the bathroom)

L: skipping lunch as I have a Dental appointment and am getting a cracked filling fixed so my mouth will be frozen

S: if I am not in too much pain/still frozen from the dental work - two baby bel cheese

D: lemongrass chicken (leftover from Thai place we got on the weekend)

S: protein shake - GNC whey vanilla protein powder (2 scoops) with lactose free milk

Totals: 741 calories, 102 protein, 26 carbs

V: patches are on + oral D3 & oral B12

E: due to a back injury I got a little over a week ago my Physiotherapist told me on Saturday that I can't work out for a while (I am dying not working out) only allowed to walk so will walk the dogs when I get home from work

Have an awesome day everyone!

Morning!

Im in Nashville for a few days visiting family. It's been great so far!

A: I had a bite of pizza crust from this tasty local resteraunt. Literally just a bite, but today I want to stay 100% on plan.

QUOTD: I wake up around 4/4:30 and go to sleep around 10 most nights. That's new for me starting maybe 4 months ago, but I've been loving it! I sleep alright since surgery, assuming I'm not getting leg cramps.

Good morning Daisy and menu folks! Daisy, I'm sorry that you are having problems with your back. It is so hard when you can't work out the way you want. Swinging chickens that it heals quickly!

I was really active this weekend. I went swimming Friday, Saturday and Sunday plus an Aqua Zumba class on Saturday. Yesterday, the weather was so pleasant, still cool and windy, but sunny, that I also did a 5 mile walk in the woods. It was great to feel well enough to be active. I feel so much more sane and strong when I move!

QOTD: I am up between 4:30-4:45 during the week, even on telework days since I drive my wife to work before I start. I really need my 8 hours of sleep so I crash between 8-8:30. On the weekends, I sleep in a little, but the cats aren't very cooperative, so I get up and have coffee and give the cats food and treats while my wife sleeps in. Before surgery I had severe sleep apnea and used a CPAP. After a few months, I was able to stop using it and that really helps me to get comfortable. I usually sleep pretty well except for restless cats. I can usually just pet them a bit and then go back to sleep.

Accountability: I did really well yesterday staying on plan even though we went out to eat for lunch to belatedly celebrate my birthday. I had a crab cake (YUM!) and brussels sprouts.

Menu:

Breakfast: chicken salad, blueberries

Snack: Cappuccino protein shake, apple, almonds

Lunch: beef, broccoli

Snack: 2 oz turkey breast, cantaloupe, cashews

Dinner: salmon, cauliflower

Exercise: I'd like to get in a swim, if not I'l do a couple of miles of walking

Happy Monday, everyone!

I had a very nice and relaxing weekend with Grim and a friend. We mostly just hung out. It was nice!

QOTD: I am really great at falling asleep and really terrible at staying asleep. Somewhere between 1 - 2am I awake and cannot shut off my brain. I try hard not to pick up my phone, but I usually end up doing exactly this, haha:

Working from home today and will try hard to stay on plan!

Welcome to Monday! We had a good weekend. We said goodbye to DD (returning to Massachusetts after visiting for a week) after going out with her Saturday afternoon. Yesterday we had lunch with our walking friends.

QOTD: What a generally early bunch this group is! Before I retired on November I was up at 4:30 am and in bed at 8:30 pm. Lately my window has been 6:15 am - 10 pm. That may shift when we get home next week and it is more light in the morning. Sunrise is an hour later here in Florida so it is dar****il around 7:30 am (which I hate). I actually sleep really well now, but that is probably because of retirement and my walking routine.

2 Years post-op

Always lots of coffee...

B: low-carb breakfast casserole (company for breakfast)

L: Deli turkey

D: leftover something...

S: Yogurt and/or mozzarella/prosciutto sticks

Good morning!

The weekend was pretty good. My wife and I worked on the house (painting and touch-ups) and it's looking good. We took our 8 yr old for her birthday dinner to her favourite place and she had a little party on Saturday. It turned out great, and she enjoyed herself. I got to the gym last night and it felt awesome. Of course, the first time I went out the door I forgot my gym shoes so I went home. Then I got halfway there again and I'd forgotten my entry fob. So I went home. Third try's a charm, I actually made it. A half hour on the elliptical and some weights, and I had to cut it short to be home for the girls' bedtime. I promised I'd tuck them in and do stories and give them giggle fits before they went to sleep. (Needless to say, I delivered. You don't break those promises, LOL).

Menu: Protein bar for breakfast and lunch, 1/2 cup ff greek yogurt with a tsp of low-sugar jam mixed in (we are out of frozen berries), a pear, and maybe a protein shake for snacks mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Supper is unknown.

Vitamins: 150 magnesium citrate and a 500mg calcium in the morning, a multi/Vit D at lunch, B50 complex and a Vit D at supper, and another calcium at bedtime.

QOTD: I go to bed around 11:30, and I'm up at 5:30ish on most days. In between, I don't sleep great but every once in a while my body does the ol' "nope" on a Sunday afternoon and I have a very restorative nap. I find that I sleep better when I exercise in the evening, so I am trying to do that more.

Good morning :)

My plans to get the oil changed last week were foiled by the strange abdominal pain (ruled to be muscle pain). Ended up being called in to see the midwife and sent to the ER for blood work and evaluation. Gallbladder and kidneys looked good, so that is a relief. So today I'm going to try again to go for the oil change. I will do a few other errands along the way. This shop is further than I would normally go, but when we bought the car they gave us coupons for a few free changes.

QOTD: Being tired all the time was my main complaint prior to surgery... And is the only thing that was not resolved by surgery. I had a sleep study which showed no mechanical issues (i.e. no sleep apnea, no restless legs, etc.). I also had the best sleep at the sleep study which is totally opposite of most people. All my labs are good and so I still don't know why I'm so tired. I go to bed between 10-11pm and get up usually between 7-8am.

Post-op three years and one month.

Breakfast - cereal with milk (unusual but I woke up starving and shaky)

Snack - protein bar

Lunch - chicken

Snack - apple and pb

Dinner - taco salad

Snack - pudding

All water and vits.

oh man yall

11 pm we let the dogs out to a barking ruckus. There was a 400 pound bear IN the chicken coop having a feast. We screamed and yelled and it left. Then again a different one- smaller came. We are down to 3 chickens and they are wandering around loose in our yard right now. This is with the new thick fencing on it also. Looks like im calling a handyman to install an electric fence TODAY. We can't let our dogs out there with this happening.

QOTD: I sleep a lot less than before. once I wake up i can't go back to sleep. I generally got o bed 11 pm- wake at 7.

food wasn't good yesterday or saturday. today will be a better day. apparently when im freaked out I eat....

plans: protein pancakes

rotis chicken

exercise: aqua fit

That is scary!!! I would also think about setting up motion sensor lighting around your perimeter....the motion of the lights coming on might be enough to scare away the wildlife.

Keep us posted!
