Mornin' from Des Moines!
We buzzed around the city yesterday, went inside the state capitol building - too bad it was too cold to do much else (it's supposed to be 60 degrees here next weekend, but unfortunately, we're leaving this afternoon!). It was fun. The "rehearsal dinner" (actually, just a big family dinner) for my cousin's wedding was last night. The reservation wasn't until 8:00, so I knew it would be at least 8:30 before we ate, so I had a couple things of light yogurt around 6:30 pm. I knew if I managed to make it 'til 8:30, I would be gnawing on the table legs. They ordered a ton of appetizers for the table. I was stuffed after trying a couple of those (they were fried - which also doesn't sit well with me - another reason I felt uncomfortable after eating them), and I ordered an appetizer-size thing of meatballs as my dinner. I'm glad I did. I saw those entrees coming out, and I know I never would have been able to handle those. Way too much food - and too late at night to be eating that much. So overall, I did OK - but with that extra dinner (the yogurts at 6:30 and the regular dinner at like 9:00), I went way over on calories. Like over 2000. Ugh. Really felt it this morning.
Today we have a brunch after the wedding. I hope it's buffet-style with decent options. I'm in the hotel now eating breakfast, because no way I'll be able to make it 'til 11:00 (or whatever). Having a scrambled egg with ham and a light yogurt. We're going to my cousin's this afternoon to hang out after the wedding. I know there will be food everywhere. I feel like I'll be navigating a mine field...
QOTD: I don't really volunteer in the traditional sense of the word (at least not now), but I'm the board of two civic organizations (in fact, I hold four positions on one of them because we're so "short-staffed"), so between that and work, I'm feeling like I'm stretched to my limit.
2 years 10 months out:
B: one scrambled egg with Canadian bacon or ham (actually looks more like Canadian bacon now that I look at it..), light yogurt, coffee
MS: protein shake
L: ??
D: ??
p.s. a few of my cousins were stunned when they saw me (haven't seen my in at least five years, so pre-WLS), but fortunately, it didn't turn out to be the center of conversation as I'd dreaded....
Good morning! I am thrilled to be back from 2 days at Universal Studios! I'm tired and going with DH (Alzheimer's) had challenges. Also, eating and drinking was weird (timing, food, too many protein bars as substitutes, and hard to keep up with hydration). I am looking forward to having a regular routine today!
QOTD: Lately we have been volunteering at the local animal shelter (and of course ended up adopting our foster dog). I want to find something similar back in Massachusetts after we return. We have always donated to a variety of organizations but the ones we have been consistent with over the last 13+ years are a couple of organizations supporting young cancer patients and the adoption agency we worked with when we adopted our children (30 and 27 now).
2 Years post-op
Always lots of coffee...
B: eggs, cottage cheese and Canadian bacon
L: Deli turkey
D: leftover protein meals (have to scavenge in the fridge/freezer)
S: Yogurt and/or mozzarella/prosciutto sticks

Good morning! My mom is coming in to town today and we're going to a huge craft vendor fair. We purchased a kitchen pantry that we will pick up from there and he does excellent work. This vendor fair takes up an entire sports arena, so it will be a lot of walking and stairs. I used to hate that part, but even just 40 lbs lighter has made things a lot easier.
Qotd: I volunteer at our local humane society sometimes, especially with bottle feeding newborn kittens since I have a lot of experience hand-raising my own furbabies. I also donate a large portion of my garden to the food bank, and I imagine that will increase since the size of my garden is increasing, but the size of our stomachs have decreased!
breakfast: scrambled egg and a strip of bacon
lunch: I might skip in leu of a protein water (one of the 42g ones from Vitamin Shoppe). I'll be at the craft fair and likely not have any good options, and I'm not eating protein bars. Can't think of any good options to carry in my purse all day that are currently on my plan.
Dinner: out somewhere before mom leaves for home again. Unsure where we're going, but I'll make a good choice.

Good morning!
Woke up to a covering of snow on the ground. So ready for this late winter to end.
I need to go through my closet and donate the clothes that are to big. I've been procrastinating on this and just need to get it done. Lots of other errands to run today too.
QOTD: I have volunteered from time to time for different events. It always feels good to help.
B: 2 eggs scrambled with cottage cheese
L: smooth chicken salad
D: turkey chili
S: string cheese
E: walking.. cant wait to be cleared for the gym

Happy Saturday everyone!!
Random tangent -- all you people that recommended the coffee + PP combo -- THANK YOU -- you made my travel week so much better and I might love the coffee and chocolate PP mocha more than the real thing!
I have busy saturday with a class from 7 to 12:30, a stretch session with a trainer in the afternoon and I need to clean my house...if I get it all done, one of my favorite authors released a new book on Tuesday and it's ready for me as my reward.
QOTD: I have been very disappointed that I haven't been volunteering since I moved to AZ. When I lived in CO, I was a team lead at our local museum for all the temporary exhibits and loved it. I need to get back into it, it feeds my soul differently than my job does.
Menu:
B - coffee + fairlife
S - .5 PP
L - .5 PP
S - string cheese
D - I portioned and froze some 2 oz burgers a bit ago so thinking I'll grab one of those with some cheese. I have not been too successful with meat meals.
Totals: 449 calories, 61 protein, 9 carbs
Have a great day all!!

Good morning weekenders! I'm hopping in for a quick post and read between activities. I was up early after crashing early last night. This week going back to work in the office has really killed me but I was able to work from home all day yesterday and that made it easier. I still seem to need to rest for a while after a few hours at the computer. I went swimming yesterday on my lunch break and it really helped to refresh me mentally. Just what I needed for my sanity!
This morning I did my weekly run to Trader Joe's then came home and am doing some OT telework. I will take a break at 11:00 and go do some swimming and maybe an Aqua Zumba class, then come home and do a couple more hours of OT. I don't like to work too much on the weekend because I get burnt out, but this is extra $$ for my plastics fund. I want to add to it while I can.
Menu:
Breakfast: chicken breast, blueberries
Pre-pool snack: smoked salmon, apple
Post-pool snack: protein shake, turkey breast
Dinner: Not sure
Exercise: hour of swimming laps, 45 minute Aqua Zumba class
