Can we have Kambucha?
I had no idea what it was until last weekend while in Utah. A friend offered it to me, almost like a apple cider vinegar. I took a couple of sips to be polite and put it down. The whole weekend my BM were so regular so I got curious. I looked it up online, but I'm not sure if we can have it. What do you think?
I take miralax on a regular basis but if a couple of sips of this Kambucha regulates you for three days wouldn't it be more beneficial?
Trying to put a link for Kambucha but doesn't let me.

I would make sure to read the nutritional facts on any kind you drink. Some of them can have a lot of sugar, and some are slightly alcoholic-- both of which are problems for WLS patients.
I'm very skeptical that a couple of sips of ANYTHING would drastically alter your digestion and affect your elimination habits. It's possible that it's completely coincidental.

Just a note, I haven't had surgery yet, but I do know some information about Kamboucha. It is a fermented tea (with yeast and bacterial cultures)It is great for your digestive system, and it has many various different flavours. I think there are just a couple points to keep in mind here, it is carbonated and it does have sugar. Normally it doesn't have too much sugar, the ones I have seen have been about 14-16oz, there is about 5-15g of sugar. Also, because it is fermented there might be trace levels of alcohol in the beverage (usually written as a disclaimer here in Canada, not sure about the US), knowing the information I know about RNY and alcohol, it might be something you might want to be careful with. I love the stuff, but I know its something that I might need to give up after surgery. Maybe something that has a similar effect to it, like probiotics or other probiotic foods might be a better option, but I know with the surgery food and drinks are a case by case thing.
