Idk what to do!!
Hey Peeps, I'm nee to this Forum I figured I join because I'm fresh out of surgery and need support!!! So here's the deal I had my gastric bypass surgery 3/27/18 so I've been home a few days nows. But I'm not drinking the amount of Protein intake that I should I have the Primier Protein it's good but now my taste buds don't care for it. I've been drinking V8 splash water down juice and apple juice watered down as well. I'm able to drink broth and sugar free popsicles but that's all!! Can I get recommendations pls??!! I try to eat my protein in the form of a popsicle didn't work the heart burn is real and hurts like hell!! What should I do?!

You don't have to get all your protein in right now. You won't become deficient in a few weeks. Your full time job is getting in fluids. Dehydration is the real threat and not drinking enough will land you back in the hospital with an IV in your arm. Skip the V-8 and apple juice. Both will cause heartburn. They are too acidic for your tender stomach. Drink broth, tea, Crystal Light, etc. and stay away from liquids with calories. You have plenty of fat to burn for energy so you don't have to worry about eating or drinking calories. Get your vitamins in and slowly increase your protein as tolerated. Your tastes will change. You may tolerate the protein better in a few weeks. Keep trying.
Are you taking a PPI like Prilocec or Nexium? If not, I would contact your surgeon. You may have to take an acid reducer for a few weeks until your new stomach settles down. Sometimes the swelling feels like heartburn too. It will get better with time.
The first few weeks are the hardest. Take it slow, but drink, drink, drink!

You really shouldn't be relying on sugary drinks. Plain ole water is ideal but if it needs to be sweet it has to sugar free.
I started with chocolate Premier protein shakes and I would either have to practically freeze them to make them palatable or mix them with a scoop of peanut butter protein powder. And it still take me an hour to get down.

I had to freeze mine into a slushy to get them down also, caramel went down the easiest for me.

What Rocky said. Don't worry and focus on fluids. Syntrax brand has a lot of non creamy flavors like lemonade and ice tea protein. You can buy a sample pack somewhere out there on the web if you google it. I like the fuzzy navel and mint cookies and cream.
Until you figure out what you like Costco GNC and Vitamin Shoppe are great places to buy as you can return open containers if you don't like it.
I find Netrition.com a good place to buy from.

Same advice as above, second the Syntrax and especially fuzzy navel flavor. For a not sweet peotein powder try Unjury chicken broth protein powder.
I liked Premier Protein pre surgery but could not stand the sweetness of any but rhe chocolate after surgery, and ai use it as creamer for my coffee. Try different protein powders, and when you get to pureed stage you will be able to use greek yogurt, which is not so sweet, as a protein source.
Drink as much as you can but ai would skip the v8 with apple juice. Too much sugar. I deink diet cranberry juice mixed with water. There are also clear protein drinks out there.
It gets better, hang in there.
