Does Costco make you fat??
I have a Costco card. I buy a ton of food at Costco... black beans, tomatoes, dog treats, chicken, hamburger, steaks, peanuts, Premier Protein, cream, butter, lots of cheese. Every now and then I will eat a sample but usually they are just carbs. If I ever go to the food court, there is a chicken caesar salad. Never, never, ever do I get the soda, the polish dog, or the pizza.
And I might add, Costco posts the calorie content of everything they sell at their food court so you can see how many calories it has.
I absolutely reject the idea that Costco makes people fat. People make people fat.
I am only 19 months post-op RnY but I understand that the way I ate pre-op got me fat and it is my responsibility to keep myself thin (well, thin-ish).
I'd suggest that the things we shove in our face holes are what make us fat.

Absolutely. Costco is great post RNY. Tons of good protein at great prices. And vitamins and there's no better place for Premier protein shakes. I go at least twice a month
The food court? If I'm starving and there's no line? Maybe I'll get a sausage and skip the bun
DH and I shop at Costco all the time. Never has anyone held a knife to our throats and forced us to the food court.

Every place in the US can make us fat. Supermarkets are full of mostly processed crap. There are several fast food restaurants on every major street. Coffee shops with 700 calorie beverages and assorted pastries are literally on every corner. Restaurants have 1500 calorie salads on their "healthy" menus. Even "health food" stores are mostly processed, prepackaged foods.
At least at Costco we can also buy a coffin.

You guys are right...My thread should have read..."Does Costco contribute to the nations obesity Problem"...
Of what I see at my local Costco, it looks like there is a larger percent of obese people shopping at the store, than in the general population. This is what I view. Just like fast food places, Costco has designed their store to attract people who have an issue with weight gain. It is there. No, you do not have to consume the bad samples. Also you can make wise choices on the food court. I do a lot of physical work and exercise. I do burn my calories. My blood pressure, heart rate, cholesterol/lipid panel are all good. I do eat wisely, but I do enjoy my other foods also. Just me.
So if the thread had started with..."Does Costco contribute to the nations obesity Problem", what would your response be??
Exactly.
