Medical Alert Bracelet?
Sharing a couple warnings for what they are worth: First, medical emergency personnel have mentioned to our support group medical ID bracelets that look too much like fashion jewelry can easily be overlooked. Second, periodically I quiz my DH what kind of pain med must I not have; he scores either an F or a fuzzy D- so I find it wise to nix family as medical information help.
I have a necklace. Wear it all of the time, even in the pool. I consider it my badge of honor and proudly wear it.
its a red dog tag. No jewelry for me

I bought a medical alert bracelet before I even had surgery, after reading posts recommending it. It is important that emergency personnel know what ever they can about you before treatment, especially if you're unconscious. A procedure that would ordinarily save a life, like a NG tube, could easily create major complications or death for a gastric bypass patient. I'd rather wear a bracelet than take that chance. I have worn it every day since surgery in September 2010.

Check out RoadID. You can get a medical alert bracelet that links to your entire medical history online! EMTs or ER doctors can get everything by phone or online using the serial and pin printed on the back. My record includes my surgery status, my surgeon's phone number, and other health info.
I have several of these and use them when I'm out running, cycling, or playing derby.

Julie, do you get the online subscription with information? I am finally going to break down and get one since I am getting more fitness-y, but not sure if I need that.
I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!
