Gas Problem 6 years out
Hahaha.
Apparently higher carbs increase gas quite a bit in general. I imagine it's worse with the RNY slightly but much more worse with a DS since the shorter intestines mean less carbs get digested. Less carbs = more bug food.
There are some people whose gut bacteria actually ferment stuff into alcohol and they get, well. Ridiculously drunk. Interesting and unique biology wise, though.
And what's my biological super power instead? Being able to gain weight merely looking at anything starchy, heh.
I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

I found this decent list that I had forgotten about after I posted.
I basically eat primarily protein first to 90ish grams, and everything else is mostly fat. I probably eat 10-15g carbs/day once a day once I can eat protein. Right now I probably hover around 20-40 just because I am still having trouble eating dense protein, so relying on a lot more dairy than usual.
You can eat quite healthy and have a lot of variety with low carb diets, actually.

I've always been lactose intolerant, but more so since surgery. I take one lactaid pill before my daily once or twice a Premier Protein shake. Sometimes I forget, then several hours later I suffer. Needless to say, it's not pleasant.
I don't eat any naughty carbs previously mentioned, usually just limited veggies after protein.
My downfall is Starbucks Misto with almond milk. I'm a coffee drinker but need something to cut down the bitterness. It's just not Starbucks, it's all coffee. Any suggestions? Heavy cream is out and skim milk is yuck.
