Nancy, I wanted to wish you well with your upcoming surgery. My gastric bypass surgery was 03/05/18. Everything is going well for me at this point. Of course, I'm following the rules to avoid any issues possible. That is one of the big things...follow the rules. I can't wait to see your future posts. Rest, walk, hydrate, protein.

Thank you Shirley! I'm so glad to hear you are doing well! I'm planning on following the rules. I want success as we all do. I'll definitely be posting more as I go through this.

Can't wait to see your posts. Btw...can you tell me how to make the tracker you have listing your highest weight, current weight, etc?

Absolutely.

On the upper part of the page there is a gear symbol (next to the bell shape) click on that. There is an option for Tickers, select that option it will bring you to the various tickers that are available.

For the HW, SW, CW etc you set that yourself as your signature. Again, go to that gear symbol, select Settings. Once you're at the Settings you'll see three options General (default) Message Board and Health Tracker. Select Message board. You can then create your signature to be what you want it to be. There is a height limit on how much space your signature can take up so it might take some playing around with, but I'm sure you'll get it!

I'm almost a month out now and other than the scars have nothing to show for/feel to say I had surgery, I wouldn't bother with the kindle, I took a book/Phone/IPod and the only thing I used was my phone I spent most of my time sleeping/walking/sipping. I took slippers and a robe, depend on how comfortable you are walking around in hospital gowns (1 front, 1 back) and the little non slip booties they give you, I have trouble with my feet so needed the slippers to comfortably walk, and since I started on the liquid diet and started losing weight I'm always cold so needed the robe to stay warm enough to walk around I also wore socks as soon as I could get them on because my feet were cold.

Depending on where you are having your surgery and how soon they let you have water, you might want biotene for dry mouth.

Sounds like you're well prepared and on your way to the loser's bench, see you on the other side.

Oh my gosh Michelle - WOW you are losing big time! Congratulations I'm not losing as much on my liquid diet, this old body of mine wants to hang onto this weight. I'm down about 10 pounds in 12 days. Don't get me wrong I'm pleased, it's more than I've been able to lose on my own for quite some time. And I know everyone is different. I have a friend who has had the VGS, she said she said similar to you when she was still pretty early that she felt normal. It's nice to know that the healing can happen so quickly.

I can't wait to join the losers bench, soon, very soon. :)

Oh I don't know, I don't have it in my signature but I'm 6'0" and 57 too o it sounds like we're on a similar path.

I always felt oh I'm tall a little extra weight is no big deal, till I got diabetes, asthma, sleep apnea, arthritis etc

Having the surgery was best decision I ever made, now comes the hard part, sticking to plan and continuing to lose weight, I'm now close to the lowest weight I've been in 25 years.

11 days out myself and dont be surprised if you gain 10-20lbs of weight in the hospital. That IV fluid really adds up quickly. I took my tablet but really didn' have time for it and never made a phone call. If my eyeballs were open they wanted my but walking up and down the hallway. Set yourself up a set of alarms on your cell for your new schedule when you get home. Time to take pain meds, anti nausea pills, protien shake, 3oz soup, start fluids again. I had 3 pages of alarms going on my phone for a while but I' down to 1 now. It' nice to have that gentle reminder until you get used to your new busy post o.o routine. Good Luck to you and dont forget to walk walk walk, sip sip sip. You'l do great!!
