Good morning, everyone! Yesterday I felt hungry. I'm pretty sure it wasn't acid, as I went a while from breakfast to lunch, and I did the "boiled egg" scenario and decided that yes, I would eat a boiled egg. I think I'm going to increase my portions just slightly from 1/4 C to maybe 1/3 C? Or plan in a string cheese snack if I think I'm going longer between meals. I'm 5 weeks out today. Or maybe I should wait another week or so to see if I'm truely getting hungry, or it was a fluke?

qotd: I honestly haven't really been watching much Netflix. I'm watching The Voice right now though.

breakfast: 1 scrambled egg with salsa, 1 piece of bacon

MS: protein shake

Lunch: work is catering from a local BBQ place. They do a baked potato bar along with an assortment of smoked meats, so I'll take some meat. Probably pork, which I remember being very moist from them.

Dinner: 3 oz baked tilapia

I still can't eat dry meats either.

I haven't had any issues with anything I've tried so far, though I've been fairly cautious of really dense meat. I've had shredded chicken with gravy/sauce. I actually opted for the chicken today too because the pork looked dried out.

With beef I can only eat it if it's rare or medium rare and pork has to be medium otherwise it's too dry for me. With poultry I do much better with dark meat. If I make a beer can chicken on the smoker the meat is much more moist and I can eat the breast.

How did you handle the chicken? Was it pulled? Usually when getting smoked pulled chicken they mix the dark and white meat together so it's much easier to eat.

Yes, it was pulled and I could tell it was mixed white and dark. It went down really well! I think I ate about 2 oz, though I was eyeballing since I'm at work. The pork from them is usually good and very moist, but I've not tried it post surgery. In today's case I think I just got down there later and it had been drying out in a chafing pan.

Yep, my smoked pulled pork goes down easily but a chafing pan can definitely dry it out. I think you made a great decision too and played it safe.

I just realized you are from NE! I have relatives out there but I've never met them! LOL!

I never measured by volume (1/4cup) but rather by weight. I got a digital food scale on amazon and I would weigh out my meat, cheese, hard boiled egg, turkey burger etc. It gives you a much more accurate reading of food (I think, but I am no scientist lol!). Also, some people find especially early out when you are maybe eating 2 oz every meal, have six small meals a day and try to get out of the MUST EAT 3 MEALS - BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER mentality. It's up to you. If eating six times a day dramatically increases your grazing or your calories, then maybe it's not for you, but if you have breakfast at 8 and are really hungry by lunchtime at 1, then maybe you are a person who needs to eat small meals more often. Trial and error, right? Good luck!

I do have a food scale and I do weigh out my 1/4 C portion for tracking purposes, because I agree that it?s more accurate, and where meat is concerned it usually is about 2 oz. I haven?t felt any restriction at that amount, however, I?m trying to be mindful that i don?t want to eat until it hurts anyway lol. My surgeon wanted me to measure volume at this early stage to make sure I?m not over filling my pouch, but might have me go more weight-based at my next checkup.

i think smaller, more frequent meals might be my thing. My breakfast is at 7, so early, and lunch not til 1
