Weigh****chers after regain

It's hard to gain weight and try to lose it again, but joining with your husband is a great idea. Supporting each other is a perfect way to keep each other on the right track. I've done WW before my surgery at various times and was successful, and did go with others who had surgery. I say, just follow the program, don't say anything about the surgery because too many people are very quick to judge. If you find it difficult, take the parts that work for you and tweak it. We're rooting for you and hubby!

I think you're right about saying anything about my surgery. Thanks for your support. I'm glad I'm back on this site! Stella

I haven't done Weigh****chers in years, but I think it has changed to be less carb friendly and more protein forward - plus it's great that you can support your hubby - we all know the struggle is real. I would also suggest if you're on Facebook to look up a group called BariatricEating 101 - I think the same people do one called no more regain or something along that line. It's a no nonsense approach - no fads, no gimmicks and geared to bariatric patients. Combine it with the weigh****chers program and I'm sure you will lose the regain.

RNY Jan 12, 2017 Lost 137 lbs but regained 60.

77 lbs lost and counting!

Losing the regain! I got this!

This is my only WLS forum I belong to. Are the Facebook WLS groups any good? I shut down my Facebook account about 3 years ago as fed up and exhausted by all the things people posted and some unnecessary drama! I had only been on it a about 3 years and it was interesting to reconnect with some people but those true friends I email or see instead. Many fake friends. I also found I like people better this way without seeing all their political views and other things. Sometimes it became a huge turn off. I really do not miss it.

Now the bad thing will be if I want to join these WLS groups you mention I would have to rejoin or reopen my account... could I do that without going back to regular Facebook? Maybe I use a new alias like my middle name and maiden name but might look strange with zero posts and friends?

If you want to do FB, put any realistic sounding name you want. They don't do credit checks or anything. I also used the opposite sex and a hometown all the way across the country. Don't give them a phone number. Stay pretty anonymous. Protect others by not "friending" anyone. You can pretty much run through FB like that.

I tried WW for a few months recently, and it didn't really work for me. Under their new system, there are lots of "free" foods that you can eat in unlimited quantities. Some of them are great for WLS folks-- eggs, chicken, and fish. Others, not so much... I'm looking at you, bananas!

I found that the mindset of "eat as much as you want, as long as it's on this list" didn't work for me. I'm switching back to logging on MFP instead and watching calories.

I know this is probably out of date but I joined Weigh****chers in the 70's. I didn't last long because I was not into public shaming, being weighed in front of an audience. It also seemed to be too focused on food. All that everyone talked about was food, which to me does not seem healthy. I have seen the ads for the latest WW Freestyle and with a long list of free foods that you can eat all you want, seems to be a recipe for disaster especially for RNY'ers post surgery. That being said we are all different. We all need support and if they can provide it for you and your husband then go for it!

I remember WW from the 70's, 80's and so on! It's not the same. Privacy is a big issue. Cubbies with computers. I thought the same thing..eat all you want...but you can't! It's easier to track.

Hi, I'm 11 years out from my RNY and struggling with a 30 lb regain (torn meniscus, surgery and hysterectomy over 4 year period). Joined WW also. Doing okay, not seeing high results, but didn't expect to lose fast. Currently dialing in to the right number of points while getting scale to move. Key for my body has been NOT to eat the beans. While free, they are way to carby for my body to metabolize. I'm sticking with eggs (when feeling hungry), lean meats, veggies and two fruits a day plus my normal vitamins/calcium. You can do it, we both can. Good luck!
