What's on your menu today (Thursday) RNYers?
Not at all, but that is always the first thing people ask when talking about teen suicide, and how it's generally portrayed in the media.
I think it's important to know that anyone can have those feelings, depression does not discriminate.

Surgeon: Dr. Kalyana Nandipati (Omaha, NE)
That is a tough day. It was a privilege to be able to be there for them.
My surgeon changed his stance on soda after going to a Bariatric medical conference. Now he says just not the first 6 months. Personally I couldn't drink it because it hurt until I was 3 years out.
I wouldn't feel guilty about drinking a soda.

Mornin' All!
the Wed night Aqua Zumba instructor announced at the end of class last night that next week is her last week. Crap! I love that class - she really kicks our butts. There's still the Sunday night class, but I'd just gotten back into going twice a week (instead of once) not too long ago and was planning to keep it up. I hope they can find a replacement - but I know they always struggle to find a replacement when someone leaves. It's crossed my mind to get certified myself, but you have to be certified in regular Zumba before you can add the "specialties" (yes, I've looked into it...), and my joints could never handle doing that on hard ground. Plus I don't think it would be as much fun doing the routines on the pool deck as it is doing it in the water. Oh well - hopefully they'll find someone.
QOTD: I'm thankful for WLS and DH, even though he annoys the hell out of me sometimes ;-) And even though I'm pretty much burnt out on my job and looking forward to retiring this summer, I'm grateful for that (my job), too. I started thinking about it after reading some of your responses about your jobs. I, too, don't dread going in on Monday mornings, and my supervisor is very fair, hands-off, and supportive. I also like the fact I can work remotely as long as I don't have any meetings, desk shifts, etc scheduled - and provided I have things to do that *can* be done remotely, which I often do. And I like the fact we're open so many hours that, as long as we put in c. 40 hours, it really doesn't matter when we come & go, as long as we're not missing meetings or shifts and as long as we keep our calendar updated so our co-workers know where we are. So why am I leaving? I really don't think I can face another year of desk shifts, working occasional evenings and weekends, or teaching classes. The rest of the stuff - buying books, keeping financial records, committee work - I could keep up on for quite awhile longer, I think. But doing reference work and teaching classes are pretty core parts of being a university librarian, and it's just not doing it for me any more. And those are the areas where I'm interacting with the public. Attitude is very important when dealing with the public. No one likes dealing with a burnt-out employee. It's just time to leave before I get to that point.
oh! Accountability good - down 1.5 lbs this morning. 1.5 more lbs to go until I've lost the post-brother's-visit weight I've put on the last few days.

Hi all things are looking up!!
QOTD: Well we installed our new dishwasher last night and I woke up to CLEAN DISHES! How awesome is that! So I'm thankful today for a strong body and clean dishes.
I went to the gym last night for my last 'free' day (other than the crossfit for the month). I have to decide whether to join there or try a few more. I think I will try 2 more gyms then make a decision. I did have a long talk with a trainer there *****ally could relate to food/eating issues so that was very cool.
Accountability: did well all day really. I had an interesting dinner last night (and 2 meal leftovers) of a chicken sausage from the gas station with saurkraut, salsa, kelp noodles in a stir fry. I actually liked it. DH wanted a hotdog from the gas station so I made myself 2 with the toppings then brought it home and made it into something else. It was a spicy chicken sausage.
Plan for today:
protein cake with oat fiber
sausage concoction mentioned above
not sure on dinner yet
jello thingy
Not sure on crossfit tonight- we will see.
Good morning all - we got yet more snow overnight and I haven't finished clearing the circular driveway yet from the last one. I might just let half of it go for now, since the municipality plowed the road and left an almost 3' high berm (I measured it) that is now packed like concrete! I do like shoveling though! So that's my QOTD: I'm thankful that at 62 years I can do physically demanding things without a worry - No aches, no strains, no problem. Thankful for having a terrific physical trainer that helped me get here too!
I'm still on track with AMAW and love how easy it has been!
B: Black coffee, 1/2 oz beef jerky, 2 oz grilled moose burger
L: 3.5 oz roast turkey (dark meat, please)
D: 3 oz pot roast with 1/4 C homemade broth
S: 1/2 oz chicharrones ~ I will probably skip this as I really haven't been hungry enough to need a snack - put it down though, just in case ;)
Total = Cal: 500, Carb: 0, Fat 17, Protein: 81
Also thankful for all the input here, some terrific ideas, and really great people!
