snack food
I struggle to get out of bad eating habits. Brownies, cake, chocolate in any form are all traps for me. So, when I come across a healthy snack that masquerades as one of my favorite trip ups, I have to say no thanks.
I have to not eat anything that even remotely resembles anything bad, no matter how healthy it appears to be.
That being said, I still like to snack! I try to stick to naturally healthy foods and steer clear of the ones that will lead me back down the path of no return.
I would be interested to know what others eat for snacks.
Have you been to the daily menu thread? We are starting a challenge next week, AMAW - All Meat All Week, or CAMAW - allows protein shakes, cheese and yogurt. This would help rid the cravings for snacks. My go to snacks are Greek Yogurt, Beef Jerky, Deli meat , cheese sticks and protein bars or shakes. I think you should seriously consider joining us next week, you might be amazed at how it helps to reset yourself.

I try to focus on vegetables. I pack little bags of Red Peppers, Cucumbers, Cherry Tomatoes, Sugar Snap Peas, etc. They are extremely healthy and very low calories. And it helps me with head hunger, because if I'm not hungry enough to eat a bag of cut up red peppers, I'm probably not actually hungry.
I also plan for snacks of fruit (yes, I eat lots of fruit) and 1 Greek yogurt a day.
I'm similar to you. Put a low carb version of sweets ( cookies, cake, brownies, etc. ) and I want to eat all of it. I have had a weakness for baking such goodies, and struggle not to stress or boredom bake and eat what I bake. No one else in my family will touch the low carb stuff, so if I don't eat what I bake-it goes to waste. Baking is a problem. I love to bake.
My go-to snacky foods are peanuts, cheese sticks, plain Greek yogurt that I sweeten myself, pepperoni-sometimes crisped up in the microwave, pork rinds/cracklin's. I allow myself Lily's Sweets SF chocolate chips mixed into my yogurt, or sometimes tossed in with peanuts for a salty/sweet thing. I don't have them every day, but they are a nice little addition a couple of times a week. I also love the little pepperoni ( or salami ) and cheese wraps found in the lunch meat aisle at some stores. One pack has two little wraps-perfect for a little meal. They are expensive little buggers, so I don't buy them often.

I love pepperettes, babybel cheese, fresh veggies with dip made from plain Greek yogurt and Hidden Valley yogurt mix or French onion soup mix, or pickles when I'm craving a savory or salty snack. When I crave sweets I have berries mixed with plain Greek yogurt with Splenda and cinnamon. I did try snacking on nuts but they awaken the food monster who wants more, more, more so I didn't buy them again. Once a week or so, I also chew sugar free gum. I like the cinnamon flavor best. If I haven't eaten all of my carb allotment for the day, I sometimes have a serving of plain Maria digestive cookies with herbal tea, but those are also iffy as sometimes they just make me crave more and more. Sometimes I'm OK with them.

Kakesie has turned me onto prosciutto mozzarella sticks. I get them at the grocery at Walmart. Very filling (and good)!
