Disaster Rations Continued

You're making this way harder than it needs to be. Eat the soup and the innards of whatever sandwich is presented! Probably way healthier than a manufactured protein bar, or anything else concocted in a laboratory.

Hope the weather clears up soon for you.

Yes, I probably am making it harder than it needs to be, but obsessing about my food is not a new problem :) Dinner was better. There was plain beef and chicken which made others grumble, but was a relief to me. We aren't feeling deprived yet. The rest of the hotel has managed to drink 18 months worth of alcohol in three days. The hotel staff seems more worried about running out of whiskey than food. I did end up just drinking the soup and picking out the meat for lunch. That worked well.

Haha! I love that the Irish are more worried about running out of booze than food! In 2016, my husband and I did a trip to London and Edinburgh. We had first class rail for the ride north and we were looking forward to it as we've traveled by train quite often here in the US.

Well, little did we know that pretty much all of the trains before ours had been canceled and as a result, ours was standing room only in some places. We managed to find seats in the first class section and across the aisle from us was a group of four older people traveling together. When the announcement came that the the train was now "classless", they were very disappointed in that oh-so-British way. No tea trolley and meal service was a couple of packets of crisps thrown at us and a pretty sad wrap that my husband couldn't have due to a milk allergy.

Gotta love travel! I hope your time in Ireland improves! Let us know how the Irish get on when the whisky dries up!

Only the cheap whiskey is left, but some guests with instruments formed a band and are playing music and the hotel has set up free kegs of Guinness and tea service. It's quite lively. I may break down and have a sip of my husband's beer, but endless tea is nice :)

Yeah, meat is made from protein. It's not boiled out, because if it were the meat would lose all structure. And, there is nothing wrong with fat. It's the carbs that will make you gain, because carbs stimulate fat storage more than, well, fat, from a biochemistry perspective.

If you have to eat a temporary meal, high protein/high fat will cause less gain in the long run than a low fat/low protein option. You will also be far less hungry, and far less inclined to eat non-WLS food in the long run, because fat and protein stimulate satiety.

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!
