What's on your menu today (Thursday) RNYers?
Good morning menu friends! Lily and I have our 4 miles in. I'm proud of us because we did our full route even though it was drizzly and winds were whipping at 18 or so mph. I'll do another mile this afternoon. Busy day today:food pantry, cookie baking after a grocery store trip, laundry and out for supper with oldest son and the inlaws. Post op 5 years 6 months and weight up at 120 today--yuck! RA is kicking in with this rain and odd weather and all my joints are swollen. It's frustrating though because a countability has been good and scale doesn't show it. It makes me want to eat whatever I want but I refuse. Today was the day for my biologic shot so hopefully if I up my fluids the inflammation will settle down. Accountability was good with no extra bites. Heres the food for today B 1/2c steel cut oats with prot ein and peanut butter L 4 oz deli turkey and cheese 3baby carrots D 4 oz meatloaf 1/2 c green beans S celery with 1 T peanut butter. Off to find some coffee all!
I'm sorry your RA is bothering you!

Hi everyone!
I've been MIA this week because I'm totally SWAMPED at work! Not a bad thing though, and I'm making travel plans... if anyone is close to Uniontown, PA, I'll be up there for a few days this month, April, and May... let me know!
Accountability has been pretty good... but I need to stop buying pork cracklings... I do OK with regular pork rinds, but there's something about the cracklings that are like CRACK to me! I love them way too much.
QOTD: I have a scar on the bottom of my foot from climbing a 6' chain link fence... a long time ago they used to have these cross wires on the top of them, and I was about 7 when I climbed up barefoot and as I fell, my foot got caught on the cross wire top and ripped it open. I had to go to the ER and get stitches... Other than that, the only scars I have are the ones on my stomach from gallbladder, hysterectomy and WLS, all done laparoscopic... my belly button is very strange now
Eats...
B: 2.5 ounces of strip steak and 1 ounce of the yummy jalapeno pimento cheese I got at Whole Foods (so yummy!
L: 3 ounces of meat from my spaghetti sauce topped with 1 ounce of cheddar cheese
S: Some of that crack I mentioned above and then I also found these EBTB seasoned parmesan cheese crisps from Whole Foods... if you haven't seen these, you MUST go to WF and find them... amazing stuff!
D: grilled chicken leg and a little of whatever veg I make with them.
So ready for AMAW!!! Woo Hoo!

Good Morning and Happy Friday-Eve. I am really thinking about asking to take tomorrow off or at least leave 1/2 day (I have some birthday shopping for a friend that I would like to take care of and we might head to the coast on Saturday so having the extra time would be good...we'll see how today goes). It is pretty windy this morning is supposed to start raining soon and we have rain in the forecast for the next few days--welcome March.
Accountability: I had nuts and a protein bar last night
QOTD: I have a triangular shaped scar on my stomach (I thought I might "lose" it when I had my excess skin removed but nope it's still there). I got it by standing on a large bouncy ball next to a chain link fence and at one point I bounced too high and lost my balance and kind of fell over the top point portion of the chain link fence. We had to use one of those butterfly type band-aids to keep it closed. Daisy, yours sounds very painful.

Have a great one!
I got the green light to advance to soft proteins today! I?m so relieved! I feel like I was starting to crack with the liquids. I did tell the nurse about my transgressions the other day, and she didn?t seem to think it was a big deal after telling her how much of each thing I ate. She only asked how I tolerated them. So I can now eat cottage cheese, eggs, canned tuna and chicken, refried beans, deli sliced meat, cheese, fish, shrimp, and ground turkey or chicken (no beef yet which is fine by me), all limited to 1/4 C at a time. She also wants me to start sampling the myriad of bariatric vitamin samples I got in orientation to find one I like/can tolerate. I?m going to make a soft scrambled egg for lunch and I feel like I could cry. My actual follow up in-office is Monday and I?m avoiding my own scale until then. I don?t know why, I just feel like I?d rather get the ?official? number from the doctors scale first? Lol silly, maybe.
Qotd: I have a scar on my upper arm from a Roman candle on the 4th of July when I was 14. My cousins and I were playing Roman candle baseball, in which the ?pitcher? aims a Roman candle at you and you try to bat at the flame. It was a blast and the injury didn?t teach us a thing. We?re all 30-something?s now and still get into those shenanigans on the 4th.
menu:
breakfast: Unjury vanilla protein shake with 2 tsp instant decaf coffee added (made my own vanilla latte flavor)
lunch: SCRAMBLED EGG! Maybe with a sprinkle of cheese
dinner: I feel like I have a whole world of possibilities now. I have some refried beans in the freezer, maybe I?ll have 1/4 C of those
ill work in an ISotech42 protein water at some point today too.

Yay for soft food. Word of caution: the first time I tried tuna I thought I was gonna die. Too dry. To be honest even chicken was hard. Somebody suggested to put pesto sauce on it. That made such a difference and made them all soft. Enjoy your new foods.

I'm not a huge fan of tuna, but I did eat those flavored tuna packets before surgery...I wonder if those would be moist enough? I also don't plan on rushing into the ground meats. I have some frozen turkey meatballs from Costco that are super soft/mushy (pretty sure they were ground to paste before made into meatballs) but I think that's about as adventurous as I might get for now in that department

I eat those pouch tunas too. I could never stomach the can tuna. But even those pouch tunas were too dry to begin with.
