Good morning menu folks! Today is my one year surgiversary! I am so excited and grateful for what the last year has brought. I have lost more than 125 pounds, which is more than half of my pre-surgery weight. With the weight loss, I have gained health in ways that I never had it at any time in my life. I am able to participate in life in so many new ways, which is so exciting. It took me several years to decide to have the surgery, but this is one of the best decisions that I have made in my life.

Yesterday I took a walk for about a mile and half. It felt so good to be out and moving. I really need to be careful not to overdo things though. I don't want to pull anything internally and cause complications. I also had a nice lunch out with a friend. We went to a Thai restaurant, which I love and I really struggled with wanting one of the noodley dishes. I love Thai noodles in all forms, but I made good choices and had a small Lemongrass soup and an appetizer chicken satay. It was marvelous and just the right amount of food. I was so proud of myself.

Today I don't have anything really planned other than another walk or two and some rest. My belly aches a bit this morning so I want to be gentle with myself today.

Accountability: I was wide awake for about an hour last night and was achy and a bit hungry. I certainly thought about breaking into some of my wife's snacks, but I decided to have some turkey breast and blueberries. My theory, right or wrong, was that if turkey makes you sleepy after Thanksgiving dinner (triptophan?) maybe it would put me to sleep. Well whether my theory was right or not, I crawled back in bed and had a good sleep for the rest of the night. Maybe I'll try it again. In any case, dense protein for a snack was a better choice than a pint of Jerry Garcia ice cream!

Menu:

Breakfast: hard boiled egg, ham, oatmeal, 2 prunes

Snack: Fuzzy Navel protein shake, apple, almonds

Lunch: chicken breast, broccoli slaw

Snack: turkey breast, cantaloupe, cashews

Dinner: not sure but maybe shrimp and broccoli

Exercise: 2 1-mile walks

Happy surgiversary! You have done so well. I like your hypothesis about turkey. Maybe I'll try that when I have late night "hungry horrors".

Good morning! Amazing commute today. It was so nice to hear the birds going crazy and the sun shining away. The gym last night was a lighter workout but a very fun one. My upper body is still feeling it from Sunday and last night, but I'll go again tonight. I'm trying to gauge how much my upper body will change by summer if I keep throwing weights around. My wife seems to like it a lot and so do I.

B: Protein bar and a small-ish granny smith apple cut up. I wasn't going to add the apple, and rarely eat anything beyond berries in the fruit department but the fibre is kinda needed. The clinic said that apple skins could upset my pouch but that doesn't seem to be the case at this point. I still keep my distance from them mostly but largely because I'm not a huge fan of most fruit anymore.

MS: 1/2 cup cottage cheese with 1/2 cup chopped dill pickles

L: 2 cheese strings and some veggies with 1.5 oz some sort of dip I found in the back of the fridge.

AS: 1/2 cup ff greek with strawberries mixed in

S: Unknown, but plan-forward

QOTD: I've won team trophies for a few things, and won an individual company "safe driver" award (top Canadian driver) for 2 years back when I was a fuel truck driver so long ago. No accidents, spills, marks on my CVOR, tickets, and the evaluation person that was riding around with me didn't even have to open her book. I'm fairly certain at one point she relaxed enough to fall asleep in the cab. My favourite award is in marksmanship for archery and firearms. That was a great day and something I really enjoy, though nowadays I rarely am afforded the time in which to do it.

I'm never hungry in AM. I have coffee up until 11 am sometimes, and usually that is the time I allow more slider foods for food. my holistic dr reccomends intermittant fasting from 12-8 pm then nothing but liquids until the next morning- sporadic days. says it can help with overall health. I just know I'm not hungry or wanting to eat till later. like my pouch needs to be warmed up lol

QOTD: I won a drawing contest once in 3rd grade. My sister helped draw it so it was so embarrassing. I even got to drive up to atlanta and meet the governor of Georgia and the mayor of my town. it was for a seatbelt campaign. I also won an Amy Grant cassette tape (my first ever) at church. We were playing a game called chubby bunnies where you shove giant marshmallows into your cheeks and say chubby bunnies, the one with the most marshmallows in their mouth won. the irony is not lost on me. AND- MAN do I still love marshmallows.

Food plan was good- under calories on MFP again

Food for today:

leftover real good pizza from last night (interesting chicken crust.) kind of soggy- may crisp up on broiler today

gelatin concoction

dinner may be smoked wings night .50 each and i get 12 so many many meals

exercise has been lax still- need to get back into routine.

I crisp up the real good pizza how they suggest on the box...in a frying pan after I cook it in the oven.
