Vitamin B12 - yes or no???
What are your labs saying? If your B12 is low, take some. If it's good, you need it.
Most of us need at least some, but there is a really big range. It could be 2,000 per week, or 5,000 per day. The only way to know is have regular labs drawn, and chart the results over time. Trends are really important.
This goes for all vitamins and minerals, not just B12.

They gave me a script for B12 shots every 30 days for the first year and then I can switch to the sub lingual B12 pills daily. They said the B12, Iron, Calcium and multi were pretty key for us after surgery.

It's water soluble, so you will pee out any excess. Try and get your GP to order blood test every 6 months if you can, although they'll think you're crazy lol.
Do not let yourself get deficient, a lack of B12 has real neurological consequences that can be irreversible. I'd take the injections, 1ml per month and the sublingual on top of that.
Any chronic fatigue or tingling in your arms/legs, get them to check your bloods
