Busy day today, as I get ready to return to work tomorrow! I'm excited about getting back to my normal routine. 3 weeks out, and I am now able to get to the gym. I walked on the treadmill for 45 minutes and then the stationary bike for 30 minutes. I was exhausted, but encouraged that I was able to get in some exercise. I'm down 2 more lbs today! Which brings me to 34 lbs in 3 weeks.

Surgery Date, 1/31/18

D. 3oz Ground Turkey. 1/4 cup mashed cauliflower.

Good morning! I had a really rough sleep last night, so the walk in was pretty rough too. I still haven't found any decent warm, waterproof hikers, so I'm still wearing the big clunky steel-toe thermal boots. They're OK, but the weight makes for a tiresome trek. Good leg workout though, LOL. On that note, I did get out to the gym to sign up again last night after a 6 month hiatus. I stopped in to a discount store and found some gym shorts, since my old ones are big enough that I can fit in one leg. I tried an XL and a L, and needed a M, which I'll admit, messed with my mind. I actually felt anxiety about that, though I don't know why. That was a weird thing to feel.

Menu: Protein bar this morning at work, followed by a regular coffee, a decaf, a mug of water, now a tea. Water all afternoon, just felt like warm drinks this morning. My morning snack was 1/2 cup of ff greek yogurt with a mix of strawberries/blueberries. The blueberries are from chili, and seem to be very full of seeds, so they are a weird texture.

Lunch will be the last of the chili, and the AS will be the same as MS. Supper will be chicken.

Last night my wife picked me up and we went to Crabby Joe's with the kids for a change. We shared a chicken/cashew dish that was fantastic without destroying my day. I did eat 1 fried pickle appetizer which was 'meh' but the kids ate them up.

Didn't get my walking in yesterday, but I will be today. 8000 steps in so far, probably another 7000 by the time I get home tonight.

THE BLUEBERRIES! I had some of them last night and they tasted weird, like flowery and were full of seeds! Even the dog wouldn't eat them and he loves blueberries. My sister said they went OK with the cheesecake because the seeds were like a graham cracker crust - but the flowery, almost perfume flavor turned me off.

Yeah they're very odd. The flavour is there, but it feels almost grainy there are so many seeds. Mixed in with the strawberries and yogurt they are less noticeable, but I think I'll let the kids have them. A little too weird.

G'morning Daisy and menu friends.

THANK YOU again for all of your support yesterday, I was a mess and your kindness meant the world to me. Today is a better day, weird that I still hear Gemma in the house but I'm sure it's me being used to her noises.

The quote is very resonant. I so wanted to fit in when I moved to US that I think I lost myself...but at one point my dad said we are all like branches, we can bend but if we are to bend too much we'll break. That was a wake up call for me. I decided I didn't want to bend or fit in. And the rest is history! :-)

Accountability : on point, although I think I exaggerated on turkey jerky. Can you binge on turkey jerky?

B: protein shake

L: tuna & broccoli

S: yogurt or cheese

D: TBD

With all things Gemma forgot to share : I'm overweight now!! No longer morbidly obese or obese...but overweight (29.9 BMI)!!

Have a good day!

Daisy - sorry you had to go through that reaction to the contrast die - that SUCKS but wait till you see your breast MRI - they will look so freaking perky LOL! My husband was staring at the images and finally I said "I was laying on my stomach and they were hanging straight down" He was like "Oh... yeah... that makes sense" LOL!!!!! I have the BRACAII mutation so I eventually opted for a prophylactic mastectomy. I'm fine with my choice, as I feel it was the best option with the information we had available in 2012 but if I had the choice with the info I have today I'm not sure I would do it now.

QOTD- Clearly I am not terribly concerned with other's opinion of me. I should be a little more that way. I care deeply about some people's opinion of me but I learned early on that I lacked the natural charm and worse, I don't seem to know "my place". So there we go.

Accountability: The carrot cake at the birthday party turned out to be cheese cake - so more protein!

11 months post RNY/136lbs/Weight Loss Stage

B- Green chia tea with elevation protein powder

MS - four thin mints

L- Sashimi plate (salmon, tuna, fancy tuna, ginger, soy)

AS- 1 oz. Smoked Almonds

D- Green Chai Tea with elevation protein powder (or shrimp?)

ES- RTD Frosty Chocolate shake w/ a peppermint candy cane

Total Calories: 1230, Protein: 146, Carbs: 53, Sugar: 19, Fat: 47

Exercise:

3 trips up the stairs (32 floors)

Question! I read once that you can do cardio in ten minute increments- as in if you keep your heart rate up for at least ten minutes, you get a benefit so you can do 30 minutes at one time or do 3 ten minute sessions for the same benefit. Does anyone know if this is actually true? I've found I can walk up the 32 floor in our office in just under 12 minutes, and since that is a reasonable time to step away from my desk (15 minutes to ride the elevator down and then walk back up) I don't feel guilty doing this three times a day. While walking the steps my heart rate is in the 140s which is good for my age range (50). Thoughts?

I'm hoping I'll get back to riding my bike into work as the weather eases up and the daylight lasts a little longer. I don't mind riding in the cold and dark but I really hate fiddling with airing up my tires and other bike stuff in the cold and dark! I get home, lock it up and don't want to do ANYTHING with it until the next morning and I'm usually out of town on the weekends or it's freezing cold and or raining/snowing when I am in town. So right now it needs air in the tires and the chain needs oiled. Wait- what was yesterday's quote of the day???
