Sheila, I am so sorry for your loss of Gemma. It sounds like she was a real gem! I know how hard it is to lose a beloved pet. Lost my two 15-year old dogs a little over a year ago and I still miss them dearly. It helps to get a new pet, especially from a shelter or a rescue.

To attach a photo, go to the top, right hand corner where you see a pink box with a plus sign in it. Click on that box and choose "upload photo". Once you've uploaded your photo from your computer, you can then click "Add Photo" (upper left hand corner of this message) and it will add it to your message. I'm looking forward to seeing a picture of precious Gemma.

Thank you.

I think I need to heal before I go for another dog. This is our second one. The first one was 13 and I waited a good 6 months before I even started looking for Gemma.

Thanks for the instructions.

So sorry! Losing a pet is so tough. We went through this when my daughter was about 8 or 9. The vet mailed us a sympathy card and a paw impression 2 weeks after we had to put our lab down. My daughter slept with that little impression for MONTHS afterwards. But it really helped her heal too.

Aaaaw, it breaks my heart when the kids are affected.

We do have a tiny "urn" and the paw print from our first dog, and we ordered one also for Gemma. They will be sitting on my dresser.

So sorry,Sheila! Just reading this brought tears to my eyes. I've had to make that terrible decision far too many times--2 dogs and 2 cats. It seems certain though that Gemma was lucky to have found you. You certainly gave her loads of love and a wonderful life. Take your time to heal and adopt another from a rescue. The new dig will never be Gemma but will add so much love to your life. Take care of yourself and come here if you need to unload. And kudos for talking and not eating your feelings! Hugs and kisses(complete with slobber) frommy boxer Lily and I.
