I have the new Laura Ingalls bio Prairie Fires to read once I can focus on something more than 100 words long. I'm hoping that soon, since Wednesday I've had the attention span of something with a very short attention span.

G?morning Daisy and all. Once again I was MIA for the last 4-5 days. If I may unload for a minute here...we had to put down our dog, Gemma, and I am heart broken. She was a 10 year old blue Merle sheltie and my princess. Kids always told me I loved her more than them and they were sorta right. She never answered back, didn?t give me a heart attack with her driving, and for sure wasn?t gonna move across country for college, she was always by my side. She had a bout with cancer about 4 years ago but with oral chemo for about 9 months she bounced back. Gemma was such a happy dog. Her favorite thing was chasing waves. Everybody on the beach would stop and watch her because they thought there was a creature in the water. I guess it was her sheepdog/herding instinct because it sure looked like she was herding the waves. She would run like an exploded bullet chasing the waves on the beach. It was a sight to see. Anyway, about a year ago I noticed she was dragging one hind leg. After multiple vet and neurologist visits we found out she has degenerative Myelopathy (DM) which doesn?t have a cure. The good thing was that she wouldn?t feel pain. In other words she would slowly lose the use of her back legs but she wouldn?t be in pain. So we got ready. Got her little wheelchair for her back legs and the last 6 months we went on walks on wheelchair. But the last couple of months she got one bladder infection after another and last week we found out she has diabetes. So strange because it?s not that she was overweight or ate anything but her dry food. Her eye sight was going and I have a feeling she wasn?t hearing well because I noticed she would be surprised to see me, like she hadn?t heard me coming. The vet said we are keeping her for us not for her and that made us decide. We put her down yesterday afternoon. It was peaceful and we were with her while they injected her and talked to her the whole time. I?m a one-dog-at-a-time type of person, so since yesterday afternoon I?m walking around the house hearing her, her little rustles when she was moving and I keep looking for her bcz she was always in the same room with me. If I could figure out how to attach a pic I would show her to you guys.

Anyway, sorry for rambling on. I just wanted to let you know why I was MIA. The good thing is I didn?t go to food for comfort, maybe that?s why I?m talking so much. I am learning to go through my emotions rather than eating them.

Accountability on point.

Menu : TBD but protein forward.

Hug your fur babies for me.

PS if somebody can tell me how to attach pics I would be grateful. It keeps asking me for a source.

I'm so sorry for your loss. We lost our Duchess in November. They never ask for much more than pure love.

losing a beloved pet is so horrible. We've been there, too. Take care of yourself - you're going through a rough time. I'm so sorry.

So sorry that you had to make that decision, know in your heart you made the right one, though not an easy one. I feel your pain as I have been through it as well, the unconditional love we receive from our fur babies is a wonderful thing.
