Happy Monday! My weekend was good - we went to the beach with friends Saturday. Yesterday, we went to a grandmother baby shower (books as gifts). That was fun and the woman who hosted has a lovely home!

Last night we watched Hidden Figures. Great movie and so inspiring. Such strong women!

Today I think we will finish dog training before it gets into the 90s here. That will allow us to come at any time, rather than being restricted to the training times. I need to check on a couple of my favorites who had surgery last week.

1 year, 10.5 months post-op

B: eggs, cottage cheese and Canadian bacon

L: Tuna salad, pickles and cottage cheese

D: Leftover pork kabobs with peppers

S: Cottage cheese and/or yogurt and/or prosciutto mozzarella stick

Mornin'!

Weekend, as usual, was too short. Didn't really do anything of interest - just the usual! Should be a low-key week at work - no classes to teach. But it starts up again next week. At least I have a bunch of them under my belt already - the instruction coordinator frontloaded me for some reason, but I'm glad for that. Glad to get them out of the way....

QOTD: I told family, close friends, and my boss. A few other people know now, but not tons. If someone who struggles with their weight asks me how I did it, I'm usually honest with them, esp if they're obese. But other people, not always. "Low carb diet, working with a dietitian, exercising like a fiend" usually works for skinny people who think that's all it takes.

2 years 8 months out:

B: homemade Greek yogurt with 1 T tahini mixed in, homemade blackberry/blueberry sauce

MS: coffee with half & half, protein/Miralax shake

L: 1 C cottage cheese, leftover roasted Brussels sprouts and 1/2 C salad greens with 1/2 T vinaigrette (may split this into L1 and L2, since this is a lot for me. Not calorie-wise, but volume-wise)

AS: 2 T peanut butter on celery sticks

D: committee meeting tonight at Panera Bread. Time has not been established yet, but if it's early, maybe a cup of turkey chili. If it's later, I'll eat at home. Probably leftover teriyaki pork stirfry (meat & veggies only)

Good morning menu friends! QOTD I told everyone about my surgery and still do. If they make comments about the easy way out I ask them if they eat 1 c of food at a meal or walk five miles a day. I don't see anything easy about that! After spending a lifetime obese and always praying for the next diet or more excercise to work--I just can't tell a half truth. Because I'm honest I've had 4 acquaintances talk to me about surgery,go on to have it and reclaim their health. It pushes me to keep being accountable and a good example too. Accountability I was busy yesterday and didn't drink enough so weight is up a bit and fingers are swollen. I must get 100 ounces in today at least. No extra bites though. Went to a fundraiser at church for the youth--of all things a spaghetti dinner. Eight dollars for a small salad,a piece of garlic bread and about 1/8 c meat sauce off the top of the noodles. It was for a good cause but it was hard to pass up the yummy desserts. Post op 5 years 5.75 months and weight at 119.6 today. Heres the food for today B 1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter L 4 oz deli turkey and cheese 1/4 c cheesy potato soup D 31/2 oz ribeye 1/2 c italian green beans S 2 oz roasted edamame and chickpeas. Lily and I got 21/2 miles done before the thunder and rain started--we got soaked on the way home. I'll do at least another 2 miles on the treadmill this afternoon if it rains all day as predicted. Have a great day everyone and make some smart choices. Off to find some coffee now!

I was in a hurry this morning so I forgot QOTD! I only told my immediate family prior to surgery and in the first few months. But once I had lost a significant amount, I told anyone who asked and I will answer questions for anyone interested in it. Of course the "I knew somebody who gained all her weight back" and "Isn't it dangerous" have been voiced, but I use this as an opportunity to educate: "Yes, if I ate the wrong things every hour or so I could ingest LOTS of calories and gain the weight back, but I eat in a planned way and seek lots of support so I won't do that"; "No, the surgical risk is extremely low these days and I take vitamins, pay attention to my body and see my physician regularly to make sure I stay as healthy as I am right now".

Good morning! Had a great weekend. Met with girlfriends Saturday for lunch, and that is not hard on good choices cuz everyone is "dieting", went browsing in antiques shops. Yesterday church, lunch with grand nephews who spent the weekend with us so hubby had company while I was getting some girl time in. Then cantata practice. Whew, now it's Monday!

QOTD: I've told 3 people that have had WLS, my work "husband" and a couple of friends and church and my family. I did all of that before I was told I may not want to tell folks due to the negativity. Well sorta too late for that, lol. I'm not going to tell any others unless like has been stated, if it might help another obese person. So my go to statement if needed, will be the "changing some things to become more healthy" scenario.

Food today is logged into the baritastic app. Have my 5th month PCP visit on Friday. Getting closer!

Morning! Busy weekend here. Was gone from my house from 7:30am until 10:00 pm on Saturday for District Honor Band with my son and some shopping at places they don't have near where we live. Church on Sunday then we decided next weekend were putting hardwood flooring in our son's room and repainting it. So we spent the day gutting his room and started pulling up the baseboards last night. Got a great deal on the flooring at Lowe's..so it's all ready to go. (He's 15 and wants a different room now..lol) Actually asked for hardwood flooring for Christmas...strange kiddo!

QOTD: I shared with some people. I still share here and there. I don't really care any longer if anyone knows. But I don't have a facebook page so its not on social media at all. My mom likes to gossip and tell other peoples business sometimes...so I didn't tell her until 2 weeks before surgery, and my insurance required 6 months of prep with my PCP. So I knew at the beginning of last year I was going to do it and didn't start talking about it until a bit before. My coworkers knew though. I work at an extremely small dr's office. So we all know everything about each other. LOL. I love to scrapbook but haven't in a while and the group of girls I scrapbook with found out and I haven't really heard much from them. They're all pretty heavy and always working on losing weight. And feel this is the "easy way out" but I don't really care. I was tired of being the fat girl my entire life, and felt this is what I needed in my life to make me happier and healthier. Lets be honest..I've worked at getting skinny since I was 10 and well..we see how that worked out.

B: Premier Chocolate shake

L: Egg salad on 1/4 of lavash flat bread.

D: Leftover Turkey meatloaf and roasted zucchini

S: Babybel cheese and a yogurt

E: Debating the gym or going home and helping pull the carpeting out so I can paint on Wednesday when I am off. We always go at 5am on Tuesday's so I may skip and work at the house instead.

Hope everyone has a fabulous day!

Good morning,

I visited a friend on Friday and my dad on Saturday. Had church yesterday.

Qotd I turned 50 and my health was deteriorating and I didn't want to die young like my mom so I made an appointment for the seminar. I told my sil since she had wls right away but I waited to tell my dad because he believed that wls didn't help my moms health. He was nervous at first but now is happy that I did it. Told friends right away too.

B ham and cheese omelette and string cheese

L tuna, cottage cheese and cuties orange

D ribs and peas

Have a good day

Morning Menu Peeps! Ok... ok, almost afternoon for some of you.

Had a nice weekend filled with lots of family time and bowling and Indian tacos made by my mother in law and her sisters who are all Chickasaw Tribal elders... dang, fry bread isn't good for you in any way, shape, or form, but I did only eat about 1/3 of mine... the meat and all the fixings were to die for! And I managed to beat both my husband and brother in law when we went bowling with a combined score of only 4 & 6 pins higher than them, but I won! Woot Woot!

QOTD: I shared my decision with just about everyone, and continue to do so. I just couldn't justify lying to those close to me, and I'm a pretty open book. No one was negative or condescending with me, and even people that I share it with now are pretty good with it (I do probably explain how it's not the easy way out, that not everyone loses all the weight, or keeps it off without hard work, so that probably shuts up the naysayers before they get a chance to get started )

Accountability was a bit off with the Indian Tacos and a few bites of desserts that I tried on Saturday, but nothing too off the rails. I find that most of the time, if I am eating in a controlled manner I don't get too out of shape about it - of course, I'm also in Maintenance, so that makes a HUGE difference.

B: Leftover pizza toppings (all meat, and all yummy)

L: 3.5 ounces of grilled pork chop

S: I have cheese sticks and ham with me if I need it

D: Not exactly sure. There are more leftover pork chops in the fridge and grilled chicken. Probably some of that

OMY Gosh I LOVE American Indian food... mutton stews , the big three ( corn, beans and.. add an ingredient)

And please don't get me started how sexy American Indian men are ... just about every so-irrestible boyfriend Ive ever had had a significant amount of AI ancestry.

:)

I hope the new weigh****chers free two hundred list finally justifies traditional AI recipes as largely non fattening and really health promoting.
