I grew up with poodles and took care of my mother's last poodle for six years. He recently went to join back up with her in the happy poodle afterlife. I'll be next door with the shih-tzus but I do love a poodle.

My favorite pet is a tiny four pound nothing-but-silky fur needle like claws and hiss brave little orphan kitten.

Tilly was found in a basement after her five siblings had been sold - no one knew she even existed . We think she snuck out only at night and somehow latched onto her mommy?s nipples when the better favored siblings were full. Though she?d been rejected somehow she stayed alive and when the sibs were sold she gained a place at the milk bar .

When I bought her she had literally never been handled or petted by a human. She was a third of the size she should have been, matted around her butt and back legs , sweaty and she smelled bad, poor thing. Of course her mommy had literally never cleaned or comforted her.

All she did after I got her home was hide in crevasses too small to get to and she only snuck out to eat and drink at night.

I had to buy facial hormone calming electric dispensers just to stop her marking and uncontrolled anxiety but she was never friendly and I almost despaired.

Despite being a full blooded Persian and so born toilet- trained she had suffered some scaring away from the litter box so she would mark my bedding in particular. I was told that may have meant she accepted me as her Mommy and was signaling me to return.

Of course I never spanked her for marking and remarkably as she grew more secure she totally grew out of it. She is perfect now both with her litter box and with grooming her beautiful silky long fur.

After nine incredibly long months of running away .... then sneaking up and cuddling at night and tons of playing picking up and caressing and toys ... she is the most affectionate, loyal, grateful and obedient pet imaginable. She just wants to please ... and she follows me from room to room , never lets me wake up alone and is a warming loving comfort when I feel sick. She literally kisses my face and my hands which I've never seen a kitty do .. and she searches my eyes .. I swear I can hear " I love you" in kitty -speak . Yes rescue pets are absolutely wonderful!
