Late Night Munchies
I'm 4.5 months post-op and I am starting to get hungry again, but the worst thing is the return of the late night munchies. I know the best solution is to sleep through the night, but I have been waking up at 2am the last week hungry. Does anyone have any advice? I don't want to start eating a whole sleeve of cookies at 2am again!
One solution is not to have cookies or crappy choices in the house. Another is drink and go back to sleep. Keeping carbs low all the time can cut cravings too.
If you can't sleep and cravings are driving you crazy, eat 2 ounces of plain chicken. That will fill you, and calories are low. If you don't want chicken but still want cookies or something else, it's not physical hunger, but head hunger. You just need to fight it.
It's hard. Believe me, I know. This is a key part of our fight.

Maybe you are not getting enough protein in the day to sustain you? I don't know a lot because I'm still pre-op but that crossed my brain...if you're not getting in enough protein your body could be just needing more sustenance and because your pattern was eating bad stuff in the night that's what your brain returns to. I agree with Grim about trying a protein at night.
