When is the first time I should check scale??
I just had surgery Tuesday and have been following the full liquid diet my surgeon recommends. I so want to get on the scale and see a weight loss, but I am afraid with surgery, swelling, and water retention I could step on a not see a weight loss and get upset. So when is a good time to step on that scale for the first time?
Starting weight-374 lbs Surgery weight-306 lbs Pre-op- -68 lbs M1- -21 lbs M2- -3 lbs M3- -13 lbs
I gained 11 pounds from surgery. It took me a full week just to get back down to my day of surgery weight.

Highest weight was 475. RNY on 08/21/12. Current weight: 198.
M1 -24; M2 -21; M3 -19; M4 -21; M5 -13; M6 -21; M7 -10; M8 -16; M9 -10; M10 -8; M11 -6; M12 -5.
It will probably take a week or two to lose the fluids from surgery. I noticed you have lost a lot already. People who lose a lot pre-op tend to lose slower post-op, so be aware of that. Just keep following your plan and you will lose the weight.
Congrats on your success so far! Keep it up!!

During the WL period, I only weighed at the doctors office and once a month on my monthly surgiversary. That way I wasn't freaked out by stalls or daily fluctuations. I started weighing daily once in maintenance.

I tried to wait two weeks post-op, I made it one week.
And, yes, be prepared to be disappointed with the initial scale number!

I am a chronic scale stepper. I've finally moved the scale from my bathroom to under my bed, so I'm not as tempted. I've actually not even gotten on it in the past 3 days. I usually weigh myself every day, but I don't "record" in my notes on my phone until Wednesday's which is the day my surgery was on. I weighed for the first time a week and half after my surgery and was down 12#.
