This might be a strange question. But is there an option that doesn't cut as much of the stomach? Is there a way to ask the surgeon not to?

It's a big risk. I took it because i love fibrous low fat high volume foods like salads , ancient grains, beans. .

So I asked for what's called a proximal RNY. It worked out pretty well for me but if i had a do over I'd just keep quiet get the normal pouch size and be ten lbs lighter now.

Proximal has nothing to do with the pouch size. It's about the amount of intestine bypassed. Proximal is less intestine bypassed, distal is more intestine bypassed.

The alcohol probably has more to do with your weight than your surgery.
