Have any of you found anything that resembles bread that is tasty and high protein? Most things I've tried taste like eggs! I'm having a difficult time wanting something that resembles a sandwich, etc.

Thanks in advance!

I'm 2.9 Years out. I will occasionally eat bread. Not light, not high protein- regular bread. I make an open-face sandwich, cut it in half and voila.

I just don't eat it enough to search out a high protein low carb option. And if I did, I'd feel obligated to eat the entire loaf before it spoiled- defeating the purpose.

If you've lost your weight, I don't see any reason why you can't eat a 1/2 sandwich. Not daily, not weekly, but every now and again.

Another poster here made a great point, food can't be two things. Bread can't be disguised as protein. Bread is bread.

I haven't reached goal. ( had a setback with cancer surgery)

Thanks for your input. I laughed at the bread vs protein comment. That about sums it up! Lol

Have you tried cloud bread? You could always play around with the recipe and add spices. You could also look into keto bread.

I have a friend 1 year out of RNY and she rips little pieces of whole wheat tortilla and dips it in hummus as a snack.

Hi Lina Ann,

Cloud bread def has that eggy taste. I did find a tortilla by Ole' today that is low carb, low calorie and tastes great! 50 cal and 4 proteins.

I see you've had your surgery. (very recent) Hope you're doing well! ð?'?

Thanks!

I will eat Nature's Own Life Bread. It's 40 calories a slice. One slice has 3 grams of protein and 10 grams of carbs. I can only eat one slice at a time, but I will make open face tuna melts and yesterday I had a slice of toast with breakfast for the first time. I should have had my eggs first, because it was super filling. But it totally works for my bread craving. They have a couple different flavors, Honey Wheat, Wheat, etc. I get it at Kroger or HEB.

Even if you are still losing weight if you are going to eat an occasional piece of bread enjoy it. Low carb tortillas, pitas and lite English muffins taste fine, but as for real bread I have never found a low carb one that really works.

I think Ezekiel bread works as toast. I have Ezekiel and Dave's killa bread in my freezer. I have probably eaten 2-3 slices in 6 months.

Honestly sometimes things you only want to eat occasionally are best left to what I call 'public foods' eat them when you are out.
